Is this another troll job?

No good teams in the South? Umm...Spurs, Rockets, Mavericks...or are those 'Southwest?'

Otherwise: Grizzlies and Heat...Hawks are on the rise.

Honestly the worst franchise in the South may be the Pelicans, and they've had their moments within the past decade.

LOL I'm willing to bet there are more white non-Americans in the NBA than there are white Americans in the NBA. Not that it matters but I'd be amused to see what the answer is to that question.

That part made me chuckle.

The Heat have been to four consecutive Finals. Spurs to the last two. Every team in the Southwest division sans one made the playoffs in a stacked West.

I think what he means by that is a team like the Braves. They ready from Louisiana to Carolina. Damn near everyone in Alabama is a braves fan.

No one really considers the heat to be a southern team. They might as well be Cuba. they are really a world away from the "south" culturally.

No team in Texas will ever be considered a southern team. Texas is in the mid-west. Same as the st Louis teams.

If you've ever seen one of those "favorite team's by state" maps the past couple of years the Heat were the overwhelming favorites in most of the south.

Now do they become Cavs fans? We shall see.

This is where I get annoyed by the NBA though. If I am a casual NBA fan in Tuscaloosa that really started to enjoy watching how the Grizzlies play basketball in the playoffs, well that is too fricking bad because they will be on national TV once the entire 82 game season.

Their national TV game schedule is just dumb and they are extremely reluctant to flex anything.

Go back to five game series in the first round of the playoffs. The playoffs are WAY to long.

Get rid of the Kings and Bucks. Not enough talent in the NBA to fill all the rosters. The East is disposable. Who wants to watch Atlanta play Philly or Boston.

Let players be drafted out of high school or stay in college three years. It will make NCAA basketball better which gets more fans involved in basketball and you will have that spill over effect of college stars going to the NBA. Imagine an NBA version of Johnny Manziel that ESPN could talk about for a year. Shaq went to LSU and LSU fans followed him. Now who do LSU fans follow? Anthony Randolph? Not likely.

Okay Texas may not be 'South'...but Midwest? No...

If it's not South it's Southwest.

Id rather have a long playoffs that always crowns the best team than a short high variance playoffs that comes doen to who gets hot (baseball) .. Basketball is better than baseball in every way.

fricking 162 games of an incredibly slow and boring sport... Baseball is the harshest when it comes to beauty and aesthetics and pure entertainment.

I am a casual NBA fan. I watch a little, but not a ton. IMO, there are several problems w/ the NBA that keep it from being more enjoyable.

NBA regular season is too long (October though April) and the playoffs are bloated (too many teams and too long). These two things lead to a perception that players don't play hard in the regular season.

In order to fix that, I would shorten the regular season by starting it later (which would also reduce the overlap with football). I would decrease the number of teams in the playoffs, right now it is over 50% which is ridiculous.

Also, the end of games really gets bogged down by fouls, free throws and timeouts. It takes what should be the most exciting part of the game and removes most of the excitement. I think a rule change is needed. I'm not sure exactly what. Maybe after a certain number of fouls a team automatically gets a point, plus retains possession?
