I don't have to listen to anyone to form my opinion or shape my views. Dittoheads are amusing to me.

Whats funny is the guy you responded to either regurgitates talking points, or flames.

Good choice.

This is kind of a ridiculous list. Huckabee? Greta is essentially running an Amber Alert Power Hour.

Rachel Maddow

I think it's unfair to include Maddow in this list. She's a Stanford grad, Rhodes Scholar, published academic. She's smarter than anyone on any other cable news channel. I don't think it's fair to dismiss her views.

That said, I shun any and all television political bullshite. Their job isn't to be reasonable, or even to report the news...it's to sell commercials.

Read Vox or Five Thirty Eight . These blogs aren't explicitly "liberal," but as Stephen Colbert said, reality has a well known liberal bias.

Or for kicks, watch John Oliver. Liberal, funny, digestible. Not an a-hole like Maher.

What's your stance on Harris-Perry, then?

(ETA: MHP's an actual professor.)

I can't say I'm intimately familiar with her TV work. I know some of her published work at Tulane, which is run-of-the-mill contemporary race/gender commentary (not that I fundamentally disagree with her scholarship). I thought the Snowden narrative of her's was bullshite.

I guess my answer is that I think all of television is hopelessly fricked, and intelligent people who care about meaningful discourse should look elsewhere. So re: Harris-Perry...I don't care.

Can't help what he does (not that I agree with you) but I think any reasonably intelligent person ought not depend on a talking head to tell them what to think.

I don't disagree with your broader point about TV news media.

I do take issue with the claim that RM's credentials redeem her in the slightest from being nothing more than a smug partisan douche, usually making Hannity-quality arguments, at least in her role as a commentator. She clearly isn't dull by any stretch, but so what?

I didn't see anyone in the OP's list I really lend much credence to, FWIW. (not familiar w Dana Loesch)

Yeah, nobody should read any opinion pieces or listen to anybody on the radio or TV. That's for morons.

Nor did I. If I'm going to listen to taking heads spout bullshite, I'll listen to Alex Jones..at least it's entertaining.

I do like Penn and Tellers political commentary, usually pretty straight up.

Yeah me too, from the little I've seen & heard... but I'm inherently sympathetic to them already as I largely share their views. I don't think they're very likely to win anyone over to their side, given the fat dude's style.

A couple of threads have gotten me to thinking - there are awful media personalities out there. I pay attention mostly to conservatives because that's the way I lean. That being said, there are conservative personalities that I just won't listen to because I don't think they are very reasonable / use bullshite to stir up contraversy / distort facts. What I want to know is - on your side, who should we pay attention to?

I don't listen to personalities. I formulate my opinions using primary sources of information, for the most part.
