Pretty sure it wasn't a valid question, but just in case it was: Sauron (in his pretty boy form) convinced an elf named Celebrembor (sp?) To forge all the rings of power (except the one ring) with this cool hammer. The hammer had spells and stuff that let Sauron control the rings once he secretly forged the one ring at Mt Doom. He then built up an army, overthrew Celebrembor's kingdom and tortured him and killed his family so he would give up the locations of the rings out power he had forged and hidden. Once Sauron had the rings he gave them (again, in pretty boy form) to the men elves and dwarves. The men turned into ring wraiths. 4000 years later, LOTR starts.

I just finished the second hobbit movie and I was wondering do they ever explain why the ring was made and by who? I've seen the LotR trilogy but I can't remember if they explain who and why the ring was made

Anybody have to comatose Drogo gif? They say maybe 40 or 50 times throughout the trilogy on who forged the Ring and why. It's in the title of the god damn film. Jesus Christ.

The Ring has the power of something called "The Force," made in the castle Krull by Cylons on the planet Klingon.

You forgot that the ring can't be worn by muggles and you can't get it wet or eat after midnight when wearing the ring.
Also you can't die when wearing the ring or at least not until your 12th regeneration.
I think that is what the Wiki says on The Ring. He also could be asking about the Japanese Ring which is a whole different dealio involving tentacle porn and lots of women in sailor outfits.

They had to destroy it due to the immense power contained by the metaclorians within the Ring. In fact, there is only one thing more powerful in the universe, the Schwartz, which was last seen on the planet Druidia.

isn't there a quote in the book that "Sauron never touched the Elvish rings", I believe there is, so I don't think you are correct.
Let me just go find my nerd bible...

I thought all of the rings were either made directly or under the tutelage of Sauron.
The one ring must have had major influence on the 3 because they were rendered useless when the one ring was destroyed.

negative ghostrider..
the 3 rings, which were second in power only to the one ring, were made with out Saurons knowledge and he never handled them. It's why they had so much power to resist his corruption.
They were made by Celebrimbor in Eregion, and hidden from him at the time he(Sauron) revealed his true self and attacked the Elves. Nenya was sent to Galadriel in Lothlorien, and the other two, Vilya and Narya to Gil-Galad in Lindon.
Gil-Galad entrusted Narya to Cirdan, his top dude, and Cirdan later gave Narya to Gandalf, and Elrond somehow wound up with Vilya, after Gil-Galad died.

not exactly like that, you could look at it like the 3 became far less powerful after the 1 ring was destroyed, because they had achieved their purpose. The 3 rings went into the undying lands(the west) w/ their wearers.

I disagree with this. I think Sauron taught Celebrimbor how to forge them, and did so in mind with having the One Ring control them. Yes Sauron did not directly forge them like he did the 9, but I think he was aware of the 3 when he forged the One Ring, and binded their essence into it. The three Rings were not worn during the Second Age after Sauron wore the One, because as soon as he put on the One, they refused to wear them knowing that he planned to take over their minds. Sauron may not have known how many Elven rings were forged, but he knew that he should be able to bind them to his power.

I disagree with this.
While it's true Sauron taught Celebrimbor much about ring crafting, Celebrimbor was a direct descendant in lineage of Feanor, one of the greatest ever smith/crafters of Middle Earth, who you may recall crafted the Silmarils. So Celebrimbor of the Noldor, considered the most inqusitive of the Elven houses, was already a marvelously gifted crafter in his own right.
It was Celebrimbor, NOT Sauron, who crafted the rings of power, at the forges in Eregion, only the one ring was forged in secret by Sauron at Mt Doom.
The corrupting influence of the 7 and 9 rings had as much to do with Sauron and the so called corruption of dwarves and men, and how he used them to turn them against each other. Remember the rings themselves where not corrupt or evil, outside of the one that Sauron crafted, which contained his spirit.

If Sauron knew about the 3 elf rings why would they bother to hide them from him? Yes the One Ring was most powerful and the 3 would not be able to with stand it if he regained it, kinda the point huh.
Pretty sure Galdariel and Gandalf both wore their rings and it's somewhat indicated that Elrond was also able to do things like control the waters of the Isen with the help of his ring, so either way they wore them in the 3rd age.
