15 were killed today in a United Nations school with NO weapons. What's the reasoning behind supporting an artificial apartheid country that is killing innocent civilians as we speak. How can you support a country that spies on us, destroyed one of our naval ships, and sells our weapons to other countries. They haven't signed the nuclear non proliferation act. They violated the Geneva convention by imposing collective punishment on entire towns, villages, and camps, for the acts of a few, and even goes as far as demolishing entire villages while people are still in their homes. It has seized the sovereign territory of other nations by military force and continues to occupy it in defiance of United Nations Security Council resolutions. Israel routinely violates the international borders of another sovereign state with warplanes and artillery and naval gunfire.

They denied any official connection to Pollard, then voted to make him a citizen and has continuously demanded that the American president grant Pollard a full pardon. Israel also allows American Jewish murderers to flee to its country to escape punishment in the United States and refuses to extradite them once in their custody. This country preaches against hate yet builds a shrine and a memorial for a murderer which killed 29 Palestinians while they prayed in their Mosque.

They deliberately targeted a civilian U.N. Refugee Camp in Qana , Lebanon and killed 103 innocent men, women, and especially children. They signed the Oslo Accords promising to halt any new Jewish Settlement construction, but instead, has built more than 270 new settlements since the signing. Israel has assassinated more than 100 political officials of its opponent in recent years while killing hundreds of civilians in the process, including dozens of children. If you support israel and Zionism, you support terrorism, violence, oppression, imperialism, and tyranny among other things.

I'd like to change the crusader/israel supporters minds but it's impossible to change those minds. They are not interested in reason, history, logic, etc. They're emotional, religious reasons. They lack evidence and don't require it. Telling them they're wrong only fuels their fire because they play the victim card. The evangelicals and Zionists love the faux-persecution angle because being a victim is so honorable to them that they make themselves one.

I doubts many pro Zionists and crusaders even realize how many Jews are against Zionism and Israel. Judaism forbids a Jewish state.

Israel has a right defend itself against the 1,000's of rockets Hamas is lobbing over the border. Period. Civilians die in war, it's part of it.

I only support them in their conflict against Palestinians. They're the lesser of two evils.

So... I more or less agree with your post, but can you stop pretending this is a new issue you just started caring about?

I have been fascinated by this board's staunch support of Zionism. One would think Louisiana, specifically south LA, would not be as evangelical as other states in the region. Do Catholics in south L.A. adhere to dispensationalism?

I wonder if some Protestant evangelicals consider that John of Patmos may very likely have been referring to Nero and the pagan Roman empire in the Revelation. The Hagee theory seems a little too convenient and coincidental to the Neocon movement of the Bush administration to be considered absolute, but to each his own I guess.

Liberal Myths about the TD Political Board

1) Everybody loves Putin

2) Everybody supports Israel

3) Everybody thinks we should put troops back in Iraq.

These three things are believed by almost no one on this board but the leftist think that's what the majority of posters believe. It's bullshite and I wish yall would get it straight.

Israel's right to exist (and to exist peacefully) is a settled question. The Arab nations in the ME need to normalize relations with them and help to facilitate the relocation of Arabs/Palestinians in Israel who are uninterested in integrating into broader Israeli society. My belief in Israel's right to persist as a Jewish state with a unique cultural identity is not based in reason, so I won't push the point.

The board does not support anyone. Board users support various causes.

As for me personally, I support Israel because once the Balfour Declaration was issued, and the League of Nations ratified the idea of a Jewish homeland in Mandatory Palestine, there was an obligation to do so. The history of Mandatory Palestine, and the holocaust, gave ample evidence that a two state solution was necessary.

Do I like the fact that Arabs were ejected from Israel? No, but that doesn't mean I can't accept the necessity of it from the Israelis perspective. The Jews were attacked by Arabs before they were Israelis, and the moment they declared themselves Israelis they were attacked by their Arab neighbors once again. Since then the Israelis have made peace with some of their neighbors, and Israel has honored the terms of those treaties. The Israelis have made offers of peace to their remaining neighbors, but those offers have been rejected by enemies who refuse to recognize Israel's right to exist.

You know to be clear, one can be pro-Zionist while not being pro-the Israeli government being heavy handed and acting like assholes half the time. I respect Netanyahu's sincere commitment to his people and much of what he's personally done in the name of Israel's security over the years. But it's time to put his arse out to pasture. Achieving an uneasy peace over there is difficult enough because of Arab intrasigence, but nothing will ever get done with Netanyahu at the helm. Dude's a loose cannon.

I don't think there's anything Israel could possibly do, outside of attacking the US directly, that would sway people into thinking they were ever wrong about, well, anything.

The majority of Americans have been so conditioned regarding Judeo-Christian "values" that they can't see the forest for the trees. The fundamentalist religious nuts in this country just stir the pot. To them, the Jews are the "chosen people" and play a big part in Jesus returning from up in the clouds at the end of times. Religious nuttery is going to get the whole world blown to hell and back eventually. But I tend to think that is really what the human race deserves.

People, give Burt the benefit of the doubt.

Remember, he's an Israeli/Palestinian expert now because he spent 1 week in that region.

The dude is an expert.
