Well apparently Elizabeth Banks doesn't read TD because she's at radio bar tonight

All the people fighting over the tigerland bars make me
None of them are really that distinguishable from the other and about every 3 years they rotate on which one is the next big thing. Fred's free drinks is the best deal you can get in that area though, and of course it's a zoo of fine woman. It's college bars all the way around and once you get to a certain age, there are certainly more attractive options.
The Perkin's overpass area is by far my favorite part of Baton Rouge. I worked at Bolton's pharmacy for 5 years and still visit frequent most places in the neighborhood. I agree that Ivar's is the worst of the bunch, it's the one place I don't go to. I have no idea what they are doing with their drink prices...it's outrageous. Chelsea's is one of my favorite places in this city. Great food, good bar, usually have live music and a fun and relaxing atmosphere. It's truly a gem. ZeeZee's is awesome if you want to grab a few friends and just chill with some strong drinks. Zippy's is what it is. I only go to schlitz for trivia nights because I usually win and end up drinking for free
Your hate of Radio Bar/hipsters in general is blowing my mind. Radio Bar is, in my opinion of course, BY FAR the best bar in baton rouge. Their cocktails are awesome. They have a solid beer list. Good looking people. Games. The patrons select the music. The location is absolutely horrible and it STILL is almost always packed. Think about that.
Downtown is all pretty meh to me. You go for the bar hopping experience, but nothing really stands out. If you are with the right people, you'll have a good time no matter what.
Bulldog, cove, and pelican house are all solid bars too. People who want to hate on BR will do it without even looking at what's in front of them. Our bar scene is solid. We will never be NOLA, but nobody can be. Enjoy what we have, there's something for everyone.
And my old roommate worked at the Texas Club. That place is the strangest mix I've ever seen The setup is great though, and if it was anything other than line dances followed by rap music circa 2003, filled with LP trash it might actually be a lot of fun.

People who trash BR because it doesn't compare to NOLA are idiots.

Perkins: Ivar's
The building itself is pretty cool and it is very easily accessible to residents in the surrounding area. However, their drinks are way too expensive and their staff is almost entirely late 20 yr old douchebags.
Spot on.

However, unless you are the only group in there, some bearded poet is playing some shitty folk music on the jukebox and drinking all of the PBR.

Self explanatory. Doucheville

What are some bars, in your opinion, are frequently visited by BR natives but are actually awful bars?
Superior. i think that place sucks as does sullivan's.

The girls working behind the bar, yes.
The customers arent exactly a crowd of lookers.

Depends. Was great for me when I lived a couple blocks away. Mid city needed a decent bar that wasn't Phil Brady's.

False

Well that is a relief. Is it a good bar?

It's OK. It's a dive. The drink prices are good. They sell cheap hamburgers on Monday or Tuesday that are pretty good. It's the sort of place you go if you're in the mood to drink Miller Lite and shoot pool.

The only reason I know of people going there is for their cheap plate lunch specials and their Thursday night blues jam
Posted on 7/24/14 at 10:54 am to kingbob
And the illegal poker games back in the day.

I just go for the blues music. I thought that was all anyone went for
I like to play pool there too.
