If you wanted attention, all you had to do was ask.

Not bring foolishness to an actual debate.

Yes, those that receive more from the government than they put in should not be able to vote.

Yes. Poors should be processed into food for other poors, like I said.

I would be shocked actually. And don't give me "public roads, public schools, and law enforcement", I more than pay my fricking fair share for those.

And pay equal taxes.

So each adult would wind up having to pay about $12,000.

What about the folks that make less than 12k in a year? Do we put them in prison?

Jee, the median household income is what, 36k? So if you have two parents that leaves 36-24k = 12k to live on. Wow dude, who couldn't raise a family on that?

Should poor people have less rights than rich people?

Not necessarily. They can elect to live poor and vote or get on the govt gravy train and receive whatever the voters wish to grant them.

I posted that first statement of mind for the sole purpose of seeing how people would react when confronted with a real view of how things actually were at the founding of our republic. And your reaction was typical and expected.

He's also apparently unaware that most people retire on smaller incomes than they had during their working life - so there's a lot of old timers that pay no net taxes now but who paid plenty more taxes than bamafan1001 over their working lives.

If you sock all your money away in a Roth (and Mitt showed us how to put millions in one) - you don't pay taxes on it in retirement. Thus a "leach" according to some ignorant people.

He said everyone should pay equal taxes - not an equal tax rate.

I'm just going off the meaning of the English words.

Besides everyone knows that equal % isn't equal. Why should I be punished for my income? Do I receive more government services if I pay more? Nope.

Taxation should be flat fee per year, period. I'm thankful that the right has helped me to see this.

As I have calculated it - 3 Trillion in revenue = 12k per adult. That's everything - all forms of federal income taxation.

24k each for a married couple. My wife and I will be fine under this new fair system. Though quite a bit of leaches will have to go to debtor's prison.

I am now enlightened. Imagine the incentive those making 11k a year have to work harder now? They don't even BEGIN to make money till 12k! Ha ha ha! fricking losers. Why don't they just get a better job?

The poster Zach honestly believed that the SS that I will be receiving was coming out of his pocket never mind that I have been paying in for over thirty years

My favorite Econ professor at Mizzou had a similar proposal.

It's a pretty simple concept that varies power of representation based on individual production in a free market society.

What if it was an equal amount? I'd be ok with that. I meant percentage, but you convinced me. Let's go with equal amounts.

It is.

When you were paying SS - you were paying for other people's SS. The people receiving benefits at the time.

In exchange for this, the law requires us younger people to pay your SS now.

And when I get old, the law requires people younger than me pay for mine.

This is true because when SS began - old people who had never paid into it became beneficiaries.

That's how it works. Pay as you go. Each generation taking care of the one who came before it.
