Just enjoy Coates. He's slow as molasses but he's a pretty position ally aware defender and good on the ball. Hopefully he can pick up some things from your wiley vets

Apparently, the hold up is Borini wanting £90k/wk...

He is currently on £30k/wk... I'm coming around to St. Augs sentiment about him (like Assaidi)...

Pearce says Suso and Lucas appear to be staying put

Barrett says we are interested in Jermaine Defoe.. I'm guessing to be our 4th striker if we lose Borini...

Eh, I'd take him as cover for a season...

I've always said I have absolutely no issue with embellishment. Once referees start calling fouls inside the box the same as outside I'll change my tune. Until then I'm telling my players to go down as easy as they can when they get legitimately fouled in the box.

Net spend for the summer £34m. Not a bad window.

Whats the deal with Valdes? Did we agree to a deal, once healthy? I know he's free and can sign at anytime...

I guess he wants one final chance at LFC... I can't fault the guy for that! I hope he does well, cause next season Origi comes in..

EPL Top 5 by Cost

Our starting 11 cost the least amount of the big 5...

£125.6mm - and thats assuming Lallana starts over Mario... £9mm difference

Summer splash: Lazar Markovic (£20M)
Overpaid? Dejan Lovren (£20M)
Bargain? Daniel Sturridge (£12M)
Worth over 5x their price? Raheem Sterling (£600K)
Expensive sub: Mamadou Sakho (£15M) --- They contradict themselves in the graphic with Balo at £16mm

Man U is the highest at £262.5mm

Not that this means a whole lot, but thought it was interesting...

Fixed it for them...

Thats very interesting to see - we defintely have some bargains, but have spent ourselves silly with some guys that didn't pan out (Downing, Carrol) that thankfully are no longer on the list. If you add them in, we're much more in the thick of things (i.e. the huge difference between Carrol and Sturridge money)

I like our squad, but a top tier CDM has been missing for a few years now and would have loved to see one brought in this window. I think in January, especially if we are still in CL at that point, we need to get one.

No doubt, but luckily Carroll was paid for with Torres £... The British revolution that KK was trying set us back a couple of years...
But if nothing else, FSG learned quickly with that!

We even prob overpaid for Lovren and Lallana, but not by much, considering...

I like the fact that much of that team is extremely young, with a lot of upside and if we didn't make top 4 next season... I don't see one player that would feel they had to leave...

And if we do get UCL, we can prob just bring in a handful of players to reenforce the squad... hopefully, of a higher caliber..

IF, and it is a big if considering there are 35 games remaining, we can again qualify for CL, I think we will see summers of only one, maybe two extremely high quality buys along with a series of young players that we can develop.

The youth and overall quality of the team should allow for us to replace 1 or 2 pieces each year which should really boost cohesiveness year after year.

I don't think it is hyperbole to say that a successful top 4 campaign this year could lock us in as title challengers and easy top 4 in the subsequent years. If we do miss out, I still think we can get there, it just will be that much harder.

I thought the same and thought that the call in the box later on Diers was a bit of a makeup call from the tackle on Balo.

Plus some of that was recovered with the loan fee and transfer fees from WHU.

I really liked Borini at Roma and even though he was a huge fan favorite not many thought he was potential future star for the club. I suspected the same thing may happen at Liverpool.

However, I can't see how anyone can blame someone for not wanting to get locked into a long term deal with QPR or Sunderland.

A lot of players want to play in England but that's at the very top clubs or on a crazy wage that no mid or lower table side anywhere else would pay.

He'd probably be a lot happier trying to win a job at Liverpool and, if he can't, then going to some pleasant club like Torino, Sampdoria or even another shot at a slightly larger piazza like Napoli Fiorentina, etc.

It gets on my nerves when fans blame a player that chose their club and their club signed when they don't want to be sold to a club they don't want to play for. Roma fans do it with Marco Borriello when it's hardly his fault the previous owners signed him to a huge contract and he's been nothing but a perfect professional at Roma.
