Grew up in the city and now I am currently living in a town of about 3600. I miss a lot of things about the city such as the restaurant selections but I love the fact that I have 4 minute commute to the office and a 5 minute commute to the golf course. country it is for me.

I hope to somehow have this in the country some day. I had that once when I lived in New Orleans and it made me feel like I had so much more free time. There are few things better than forgetting to set your alarm clock, waking up 15 minutes before work, and still making it there on time after having still eaten breakfast and made yourself presentable.

How people live packed in like sardines in cities is beyond me. Give me space and seclusion any day.

I would ultimately like to move to a metro area of at least 2M-5M and reside in a suburb.

It's never as secluded as you think. They usually have an SO with them. Lots of family and friends within a few miles. Basically, it means you are around other people on your own terms, when you WANT to be. You also have the option of being left the f&%k alone whenever you prefer.

I can see both sides

I love country life. My parents live on 30 acres surrounded by 50,000 acres of national forest. You can't see any neighbors. It's a simple, quiet life. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting on their backporch, drinking coffee, watching the natural world wake up in the morning.

I also quite enjoy the city life. I like the feel of community. Seeing the neighborhood kids playing in the streets. Chatting with my neighbor about our grass issues. Then the convenience of having almost everything I need within a 5 minute drive. Or being able to ride my bike places.

And then you have the suburbs which are basically where white people go to die.

this is a no-brainer.

i've spent enough time in large crowds to appreciate my space & peace & quiet.

country in a landslide.

Country. I can walk outside buck fricking naked and shoot guns, bows, or lets my nuts hang on a tire swing and not give two shits about it. I can cook, drink, play music, walk outside and crank up a Mesa Boogie stack as loud as it'll go and no one will ever here me. Seclusion, isolation, privacy and some god damn peace and quiet are very valuable IMO. Frogging, waterfowl, dirt wars as a kid, hide and go seek as a kid, having sex outside, epic fireworks displays and roman candle wars (as a kid), etc. Once factoring in all of that plus the fact that my prime country area is only 15 mins from the heart of Lafayette and its neighboring small towns, I dont see how anyone could choose city life over the solemness that is the country. Not to mention I'll have a head start on the city folk with the inevitable apocalypse.

I miss this living in Baton Rouge

I also miss being able to walk outside, sit down in the shade, plug in my guitar amp, crank it up, and just wail

I like being out in the country but a close proximity to the big city. That's why I only live 10 minutes from Rayvegas.

I was afraid of this when I moved here for the summer. But you can't beat the people in a small town, they are always welcoming and I am by myself when I choose to be. Like my dad said, you can make small town life horrible or wonderful depending on the mind set.

In the city, you're surrounded by people and they suck. But in the country, you get to spend time with your own thoughts and those are pretty awful too. In conclusion, life is terrible no matter where you are.

I need the city to make a living but I am an outdoorsmen. I like where I am at right now. I live in a small city (San Marcos)where there's plenty of outdoorsy things and commute to Austin for work.
