It got real ghetto real quick towards the end.

Like it has been said, stay downtown and party in midtown.

Team stays at the Westin/Westin Oaks.
$400/night. I think they only have King rooms left.

You can do better than staying at the Galleria. Plenty of affordable places in town.
If you can't find a good time in Houston.... you're not doing it right.

So what's the consensus on the midtown vs. Galleria discussion? My buddy thinks Galleria is the place to be. I wouldn't mind staying in an area with a little character...some place that's not all strip malls and crappy chain restaurants.

No, nowhere close to it. Cab is likely your best bet, if you don't want to drive to/from the stadium.

The Icon would be the best hotel for downtown bars, as it is across the street from the 300 block of Main, which is blowing up.

Yep, that's where I'm staying for that exact reason.

So you are relying on google instead of on people who actually live there, brilliant

We are staying at the houstonian. I've been assuming we'll take cabs. Does the rail come close to that area?

No, the rail basically runs from downtown through the medical center to reliant. you are in galleria/west side area. Cab should not be too bad. Nice resort!

Midtown will have a lot more going on for the 30 and under crowd

Galleria area is you are into the strip joints. Area is nice but the bar scene minus the strip joints is lacking. Plus you have to cab it to Reliant. Downtown and Midtown has nice hotels and 20's-30's age bars. On Rail route to Reliant which is super easy to use to get to the stadium.

BTW for the 10th time I've said it on here DO NOT stay near Reliant. Area is not that nice and hotels are the same. Sure it's close but the area is somewhat shady.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't need the strip clubs. We're 30 somethings that drink like we're 20 somethings, so it sounds like we need to be near midtown. Just need to make sure wherever we stay has a pool. Hyatt Regency seems decent, not overly expensive, and a cab or long walk to that area on Main that was mentioned earlier.

Vice versa. Stay as close to the stadium as possible so gameday is a breeze then cab or rail it on friday night to go out.
