No, the rail basically runs from downtown through the medical center to reliant. you are in galleria/west side area. Cab should not be too bad. Nice resort!

For those of you staying downtown, go to Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar and Spirit Lodge. Best cocktail bar in Texas, IMO.

Hotel Zaza

So what's the consensus on the midtown vs. Galleria discussion? My buddy thinks Galleria is the place to be. I wouldn't mind staying in an area with a little character...some place that's not all strip malls and crappy chain restaurants.

Stay downtown or at Hotel Zaza which is in Museum District. 100 yards from rail stop, museums, zoo, chilren's museum, natural science museum (kids love this - parents too) Hermann Park (with a crappy public golf course) and Rice University are walking distance.

Can take rail down to stadium or up to Midtown or Downtown restaurants/bars or drive to Montrose for new restaurant scene.

Looking forward to spending the morning by the pool, walking to the tailgates then heading back to the room and showering before the game.

I live in Montgomery County just north of the woodlands. Its a good drive but wont be bad on game day. Hit 45 south then take the hardy toll road (two 1.75 tolls bring quarters or toll tag if possible) and then take 610 east to reliant. piece of cake.

I'll be poolside as well in the am, then tailgating. Very good plan!

Place is not very nice. Pics on Trip Advisor show rooms needing repairs and rooms with cockroach problems. I would not stay there no matter how close it is to Reliant. Like I said before, don't stay near Reliant. The area is not very nice and the hotels are just the same.

Midtown it's infinitely better if you want to go out and have a good time.

I'm biased because I live in midtown. My wife lived in the galleria ever last summer and it wasn't add much fun

Going to bar hop until a few hours before the game then take a party bus to and from the game
