Meh, it just wouldn't be worth it for me. Granted, in my career, I'd be insane not to report all my income. Hell, I actually make sure to pay use tax on internet purchases.

What has been working

Always call before leaving and ask if they need any extras, parmesian, red pepper, garlic etc..

Circle entire signature section on receipt. Not just the tip section thats tacky

I now carry a clipboard with a picture of my daughter on it for them to sign the receipt. I know kinda lame, but seems to work

Always greet customer by name

For cash paying customers, always give change back in ones. I also dirty up the ones as much as possible. Ill even go so far as to tear them and make them appear undesirable.

If kids are present, ill say something lame like, "pretty cool dad or mom you have here buying you pizza "

Thats about it. Always thank for business and roll onto the next one

They also pay 28 cents a mile which helps a lot. So tonight i drove 65

You're coming up short here once you factor in all expenses of operating a vehicle.

No im really not. Not even close actually. Im not operating an 18 wheeler or bulldozer to deliver pizzas. Im operating a 2002 Nissan truck. Im not saying 28 cents a mile pays for everything but it takes care of gas plus some. I only use about 7 or 8 dollars of gas and get paid roughly 15 bucks or so for mileage

Then you agree with me

Federal govt says it costs .56 a mile to operate a vehicle

No i don't. If my gas cost are 7 bucks and i get paid 15, i would say it dam near covers everything. You make it sound like im getting completely screwed when the truth is 28 cents per mile pretty much covers everything. Look im not doing this thinking ill make millions. But averaging around 65 bucks for three hours of work is a great and easy way to make some extra money. I don't want to argue.

I think you really should look into a gas card to help on gas expenses. Find yourself a rewards card or a cash back card to even further lower the gas expense. I've got the PenFed Cash back rewards card that gives me a 5% rebate on all gas purchases. It is pennies for some, but if you drive a significant amount, the 5% does make a difference.

You will only get 3% back if you do not have any active accounts with PenFed. All it takes is a $100 deposit into a savings account to bump it to 5%. I know there is more card options available that might make more sense, but this has been great for me so far this past year (Over $200 cash back on gas purchases).

I wasn't hating on anyone.

I am glad it's working for him. I couldn't do it.

More power to you for doing what you feel you need to do. I keep telling my wife I'm going to start doing this (only half kidding) but with a 6 month old at home, it's not feasible right now.

Wear and tear is what he's talking about. Gas is just one part, you're also putting miles on the car, lowering its value, and wear and tear on all the individual parts.

How many different stores or locations did you apply at? Did they give you the job because you're clearly the most responsible person that applied?

Yeah but you are. Wouldn't you rather have $30 instead of $15? You're only getting half of what the IRS allows. keep track of that and claim the difference.
