Javy Baez looks like Sheffield at the plate.

Id really like to see Soler up before the start of Sept. But I think the fatigue issue that has been spoken about with Bryant probably applies more to Soler with his injury history.

you mean the thing they say so they don't have to say service time.

Maybe...but i'd think that could work the other way too. In that he hasn't played that much so he should be fresh.

Yeah, I think it works in Soler's favor that he hasn't had as many AB's and games as Bryant. The Bryant thing has merit as this is his first full pro season. But, it's most likely a cop out.

Yea i'm not saying it's 100% horse shite. But i also don't see him taking days off, looking lazy/tired at the plate or field (not that i watch too much MiLB ball). And i don't blame them either. You can't say 'service time' or the mlbpa would go nuts and saying 'development' with a guy crushing like he is is hard say with a straight face. So you say development, fatigue, get his mind right, want to make sure he's ready for next season, blah blah blah...but you mean service time.

or maybe that's just the cynic in me.

Seeing Baez and Rizzo go back to back in Wrigley is the epitome of what this thread is all about.

Wada travesty...!

Sorry. Had to.

Anyways, my wife was getting annoyed about the 3rd night game in a row messing with her Real Housewives & Project Runway recordings. Then she saw the back to back jacks. Even she was kind of like, "whoa"

I really hope Bryant switches agents because all Boras clients test free agency.

When it's all said and done, Bryant is probably the closest thing the Cubs have had to a sure thing (I'd almost say Soler, when healthy, is more of a sure thing) as far as prospects are concerned and will most certainly pay the man when necessary. However, I would not be opposed to a Jon Singleton/Astros type situation with Bryant and the Cubs at all.

I decided to check on Jon Singleton's progress...he's K'd 86 times in 62 games. HOLY frick

man the sky falls quickly when he pitches.

His walks infuriate me, but it's 2 runs and if that's his typical blow inning for the day consider me thrilled.

lets just not go threatening his wife again cubs fans.

Obviously I see the difference but i do get a slight kick out of the excitement from cubs fans to pick up turner and the hate towards jackson. Jackson is terrible, but he's going to start, i'm still hopeful he can reclaim some of his magic. I also have a soft spot for lost causes.

I would rather sign Darwin Barney to a ten-year deal than watch Edwin Jackson pitch again.

He is fricking miserable on a four year, $52 million deal. I know his FIP is 4.17 and xFIP is 3.97, but his 3.83 BB/9 rate is annoying.

He is a career mediocre pitcher with poor control with a decent k rate every other year.
