Anybody I'm way off base on? I know we'll prob add some vets for depth/spot starts and such but how likely is something like this going to happen?

I think Pierce Johnson might be in there somewhere.

What's with the negativity about signing rusney castillio? Or does this lineup project him as a 4th OF?

The Cubs have a seventeen year old catcher in the minors they are high on named Yohan Matos. He's definitely years from being in the majors but just another reason to maybe not have Schwarber as a catcher.

Jacob Turner is a Cub for two minor leaguers (I'll update if and when I find out whom).

@phish, what's this about Rusney Castillo? Did the Cubs sign him today? Can't find info...

Update: One player seems to be Tyler Bremer.

to my knowledge he hasn't signed, but the cubs had him work out at wrigley, where as other's have had him work out at their spring training facilities. Reading tea leaves, sounds like we're trying to woo him.

80's cubs logo in the center field grass...looks sharp.

eta: my wording sucks in that post sucks. Sorry. That's one downfall about barely being able to read and write.

Well also the trade with atlanta and drafting another college catcher this year makes me think that it's a small chance we see schwarber behind the plate.

I think there's a small chance we see schwarber in a Cubs uniform due to him being traded for pitching.

Nice bounce back game for jake. Bats doing what they do. Which isn't much.

I was just coming to post that. It's a very good article indeed. And it sunshine pumped Jacob Turner...I don't know if he's a Volstad or an Arrieta, but it's exciting nonetheless. Let's say he's a little less effective/good than Arrieta, you still have a great backend starting pitcher.

I'd say the Cubs stay true to their draft board more than they grossly prefer hitting to pitching at the top of the draft. It just turns out the last two drafts the number one player on their board was already taken.

I'm sure there is some truth to that, but the FO has never been shy saying they'd prefer a college bat as there is less risk. So they certainly prefer hitting, they're just not willing to overvalue it that much.

Everyone assumed they had Gray over bryant, and that turned out to not be the case. There were even rumors they had Gray over apple.

But i do recall mcleod saying they had aiken over schwarber as 1, 2 on their board.
