re: How can you justify saying Magic>Lebron?

Winning tells the story. People thought Magic couldn't dominate...but in some playoff games where his teammates were shitting the bed - Magic took over and scored 40+. Magic wasn't just about distribution - he distributed to include everyone and give confidence and form a team. But he could have - and sometimes did - take over...ala MJ. Stats are a joke...especially for a player like Magic.
Some will just NEVER get this.................

Stats don't tell the story.
quote:It tells the story if you're judging teams, yes. Not individuals. Not when Magic gets drafted by a team that won more games the previous season than Lebron's team did the previous 2 seasons combined. Not when Lebron played 7 seasons and the best player he played with was Mo Williams compared to what
Winning tells the story
Magic was able to surround himself with.
quote:I'm sounding like a broken record, but yet again, this is stuff you're assigning to Magic that Lebron absolutely does as well, no one would disagree with that.

So if stats are a joke, then its all about winning. How is this for a top 13 list of NBA players all time.
1. Bill Russel-11
2. Sam Jones- 10
3. Tom Heinsohn-8
3. Tom Sanders-8
3. KC Jones-8
3. John Havelick-8
7. Jim Loscutoff-7
7. Frank Ramsey-7
7. Robert Horry-7
10. Bob Cousy-6
10. Kareem Abdul Jabar-6
10. Michael Jordan-6
10. Scottie Pippen-6

As a 20 year old rookie... LINK
Just took over the game. Played all positions. You can look at it and say...the players are different and the play isn't like it is now and the game has changed...but those were his peers at the time...that was the game then...and Magic owned it from day 1.
The most transcendent player in a sport I ever saw. Just took over. Didn't matter his age - his lack of experience, playing out of position - stats didn't matter - it was always scoreboard with Magic.

quote:All Lebron did at 20 was average 27/7/7. Guess that's not impressive since it's just stats?

d Magic owned it from day 1.

Magic CHANGED the way the game was played.. Has Bron done this????
bullshite!. Magic didn't change the way the game was played. He just happened to be the first guy to play the point guard at 6'9 and as such he could make a significant contribution in rebounding. But he hardly changed the way the game was played. LeBron on the other hand HAS changed the game. LeBron's versatility and unique skill set gave birth to the term's "point forward" and "positionless" basketball.

Stat's are a joke.
Magic had the cool nickname, and PJ and Zamoro saw them in person, therefore magic is better!!! He just had "it"!!!11

I respect your opinion on the NBA... You know some stuff... BUT I have a feelin you were NOT around in the 80's.. I was.. I have seen them both.. The game has changed... Magic was GREAT GREAT when he played, and the rules are different now.. SERIUOS.. Bron would get eaten alive playing back then.. WITH the attitude he has today.. He whines and cries if someone touches him... In the 80's.. He would not last... There are a ton of players that were just as big and muscular as bron back then.. They would knock him on his arse... Just stating facts...

How many 6'8 260 pounders were there? And I'm sure they all matched Lebrons speed/quickness, if not surpassing it completely

i love how you act like he never lost. I think Magic-led teams lost 4 Finals and 2-3 other early exits in the playoffs

To be fair, that term dated back to the 80s.

Not with the Rules back then.. Machale would have took him to school... Hakkem would have ate his lunch.. Back then ?? YES Today Hakeem would be a non factor cause the league is full of a bunch of wusses..........
