That's kinda what tells you how good and productive and efficient a guy was, not the eye test.

Magic carried Kareem
Like I said, you keep emphasizing these things Magic did insinuating that it separates him from Lebron, but Lebron does these same things.

quote:

he kept everyone included and feeling wanted and special
Same as above, you ever see the stuff Lebron's Miami and Cleveland teammates have said of him?

quote:

Those Lakers teams (which I lived and died with) weren't the greatest collection despite having some famous names
Mike Brown/Spoelstra vs Pat Riley?

quote:

It was obvious at the time.
So, it's Spo and not all Lebron that makes this Heat team?

I guess I don't really get your arguments, like at all. It's just generic stuff you apply to Magic that Lebron has shown as well, but you're saying he hasn't.

Magic carried Kareem - like Worthy. Magic was just so smart...he kept everyone included and feeling wanted and special. Those Lakers teams (which I lived and died with) weren't the greatest collection despite having some famous names...Magic made all those teams. It was obvious at the time. You had to be there and watch it.

I'm not doubting you at all with these assertions. I've seen a lot more Lebron than Magic. And I think they're both amazing and transcendent players. But I also feel Lebron has done the same thing with his teams. Either through carrying them to a title, or carrying a lackluster roster deep into the playoffs

Respect earned by PJ... At least YOU SAW what happened back then... Most on here weren't even born... They have NO CLUE how much punishment Bron would go through back in those days,... He cries like a bitch now with someone just touching him......... Back then Laimbeer would put him on his arse and say "get up dude" Rodman would eat Bron Alive.........

NOW I will give ya this... Bron took a shite Cleveland team to the Finals... An AWESOME accomplishment... He won when other players could not.. Could Magic come in and do with a shite team what Bron did?? Probably not.. You have me there........

Bron is bigger, faster, and stronger than all those dudes. They would bow down to his greatness

Lebron could take punishment better than Magic. That is a simple FACT

I'm not trying to be obtuse. But Magic and his influence is too difficult to define.

I'm sorry I'm being too generic. But Magic had that ethereal "it" - god, he wasn't stats or dominating on each end...he was simply winning.

LBJ is getting there too - and might be there now - if he wins another.

LBJ is definitely - easily on my all-time starting 5...but I'd start the team with Magic - no hesitation.

IMO - Magic is the GOAT of starting a team in any sport.

LBJ is more talented...but sometimes talent doesn't carry the day. It's a close call.

Youve got it backwards actually. Stats tell the story. Your eyetest and memories will definitely mislead in hindsight

Magic had a better supporting cast until 3 years ago (maybe).

But if I were building a team from scratch with players from any era (80's to present) ...

1.) Jordan
2.) Lebron
3.) Magic

Then there's a large group of players like Kareem, Olajuwan, Kobe, Barkley, Bird, Shaq, Malone, Stockton, Isaiah Thomas.

Jordan is the best player I've ever seen. Period.

Lebron, IMO, is the 2nd best player I've seen.

You need to rethink this... Thomas with the pistons was WAY tougher than LeBron will ever think of being.. So will A.I.

Stats don't tell the story.

Winning tells the story.

People thought Magic couldn't dominate...but in some playoff games where his teammates were shitting the bed - Magic took over and scored 40+.

Magic wasn't just about distribution - he distributed to include everyone and give confidence and form a team. But he could have - and sometimes did - take over...ala MJ.

Stats are a joke...especially for a player like Magic.

I didn't catch that 2nd part the 1st time I read it, but this is 100% accurate.

The eye test is wayyyyyy more prone to be misleading in hindsight.

So in the debate of who is tougher, Magic or Lebron, you pick Thomas. Jesus fricking Christ.
