He just happened to be the first guy to play the point guard at 6'9 and as such he could make a significant contribution in rebounding

And THIS didn't change how the game was played??? LOL.......
How did it change the game? It's not like every NBA team went out and got a 6'9 point guard. Besides that, Oscar Robertson was doing it 20 years earlier.

To be fair, that term dated back to the 80s.
Yeah, but back then it was rarely used and it really directed at a few small forwards that teams ran their half-court offense through. LeBron was the first SF to push the ball upcourt into a spread out offense with the quickness to either penetrate or distribute.

THIS is what I have been waiting for... Someone who had ZERO clue what was going on in the NBA until Magic and Bird came along... Magic did just more than bring a pretty smile and a FANCY way the game was played... HE gave the NBA an energy that it had NEVER seen before in a perfect time... FACT... The NBA would NOT be where it is today without MAGIC... FACT....... The NBA was there when BRON came into it.......
NOW having sad this... Magic makes his teammates better than Bron... I think THAT is ALL that matters here...
That's just me.. ANYONE want to dispute that??? Its up to them...

So, how do you say that AND also say that Magic couldn't have led that same Cavs team to the Finals?

I don't need #'s but gave them already in game 6 of the 1980 finals as a rookie... Plus a hook shot in 1986 with the game [and title] on the line to win the Finals ON THE ROAD at Boston... OK say what you want but Magic has and will always be more clutch than Bron....
What about the "tragic johnson' series. You can't pick and choose with this.

Really hard to dispute subjective claims that lack any hard evidence or explanation as to why they are correct. Even harder when trying to do it with a complete retard. So I think you win this one

I see what you want here........ They are different kinds of players... Magic had NOBODY to PASS the ball to on that Cleveland team.... And I don't think Bron has the mental toughness to lead the Lakers to that Title in 1980............

I think the Magic comparison is the best one you can make with LBJ, since they play somewhat similar roles for their respective teams (I like it much more than the Jordan comparison)
LBJ and bird works better than both.

Why is it that there are only 2 sides? Stats and Titles?
Why not combine and weigh them. 65% stats, 35% winning?
Just yelling back and forth that LBJ scores better and Magic has more rings is kind of dumb

No, I called you a retard because the things you say are retarded. There have been others in here disagreeing with me, but at least they can support their stance instead of making ridiculous claims to support it.

Hey fricknut....I'm an NBA fan from New England whose first hero was John Havlicek. Magic brought "fancy" to the NBA? Better check out the style of play that Dr. J and Pete Maravich brought into the league BEFORE Magic showed up. I'm glad to see that Magic turned Kareem and James Worthy into Hall of Famers. We get it. You hate LeBron. Now go eat a bag of dicks.

How have I NOT supported my stance????? Re-read my posts.... AGAIN I think you are a spoiled BRON fan that can't handle the truth and respect when somebody else is right and you are wrong... Get a LIFE............

It blows my mind that you are an old man. Your thoughts come across like they were filtered by a 13yo girl. I wouldn't be shocked in the least if you started capitalizing every other letter.

The thing I love about these discussions is the ability of most to only identify era bias in the other guy. Young guys who love Lebron, KD, etc scoff at the people who remember Magic, Dr J, Kareem, or Bird with awe but really don't know much about them as a rule.
Magic remains one of the great names in basketball history but there are certain things about him that remain under-appreciated. He wasn't a great shooter from the outside (as his career 3 point percentage should tell you) but when you realize his career field goal percentage and total shooting percentages are comfortably better than Lebron's that should make you step back and re-evaluate the narrative that he couldn't shoot.
We shouldn't really try to compare Magic and Lebron in the sense of one being better or worse IMO. Both were dominant in their era, both led their teams to titles, both were able to make plays for their opponents with superior court vision, and both were physically powerful and difficult for the other guys to defend - but that's near where the comparisons end. They generally played different positions with different styles and have very different personalities.
