There have been persistent rumblings that Love will pursue a larger market situation that may offer a better chance of winning when the time comes, but the word out of the Timberwolves is that they’re going to do everything they can to convince their franchise player to re-up with a max contract to stay in town.

quote:

Kevin Love’s people reiterated to the Timberwolves this past week that they had better trade him or else he’ll leave via free agency when his contract is up after next season. With Love looking to exit, there’s your No. 1 reason the T-wolves have not been able to find a head coach to take over for Rick Adelman. Love wants to play for the Lakers but he’s also open to coming to the Knicks.

He is 100% a Laker a year from now IMO

Will any championship he wins be invalidated if he signs on to a team with any talent?

They have to get better first and one high pick isn't going to get it done. It would be stupid on his part IMO if he trades one losing situation for another just so he can live in LA.

He was gone the second Minny declined to give him a 5 year max deal because they were saving it for Rubio.

Basketball speaking, you can't blame him. Dude hasn't sniffed the playoffs since he's been in the league.

So the smaller market Midwest teams are basically farm teams for the marquee teams?

Kevin Love reportedly wants out and Lakers fans have internet access. This is going to be a long summer.

I don't really blame him. They had a decent roster this season and couldn't do anything with it. In the NBA today you basically need two star players. He won't get another in Minnesota.

Everybody saw this coming from a mile away and I don't blame him at all. The Timberwolves haven't even been competitive most of his time there nor have they made much of an effort to be competitive. I remember seeing an article about the 2012 Olympic team and he was the only player on the roster to never play in the playoffs (other than a rookie Anthony Davis). If he's upfront with them about trading him or they get nothing for him, I don't see any harm. I'd love to see what he can do on a playoff roster.

This is almost totally interchangeable with Lebrons situation in Cleveland and we all know how that turned out....

I don't blame him. Minnesota shouldn't have a NBA team to begin with. This is the same franchise that managed to waste 2/3rds of Kevin Garnetts career.

There is another team I'd put before them though. Bucks for one.

Charlotte is a pretty awful team as well that's horribly mismanaged.

New Orleans is on that list as well.A pretty clear indication is getting uppers for $2-3 a piece during week games. Courtside for $100 except when the Lakers or Heat come to town.

My Orlando Magic are a small market but it's Disney World and people there apparently have money. I've never seen an upper for less than $40-50.

Important thing to remember: Even if Love is traded and opts in for 2015/16, he has no reason to sign an extension with any team under the new CBA. He will almost certainly become an UFA either next summer or the following one.

That is a hell of a risk for a team giving away quality assets for Love. If you don't make some noise, he can walk for nothing.

Also, if he does opt in, both he and Durant will be UFA in 2016
