I bought my watch from watchuseek. I was a little nervous dropping that kind of money over a forum, but it worked out. Just ask for references and play with PayPal (they have fraud protection). I placed an ad in the want to buy section and had one scammer sending me pics of multiple watches claiming they were that same one and trying to get me to pay with a money order. Have to be careful with stuff like that. Ended up being contacted by a guy who had a good reputation on that site and on another rolex forum. Got a hell of a deal that way.

What is everyone's opinions of tissot? I found a nice stainless bracelet with black face tissot. Just wondering what kind of timepiece I should expect out of a tissot

I tried in a tissot last night. It was lightweight and not bad looking. Not sure of quality.

Tissot are nice watches. I've never seen one that made my penis move though. That is what needs to happen when spending this type of scratch though.

As always for watch advice seekers on here. May I muddy the waters and ask you to look at Sinn Watches. They start with pilot watches but now have divers.

eta. Apple corrected to tosspot. WTF is a tosspot???!!

.tissot opinion

Solid brand this isn't as well known in the US. All over the place in Switzerland as sort of a working man's nice watch. Opinions on them run the gamut in the WIS community with some thinking they are quality for the cost and others dismissing them as overpriced.

They are owned by Swatch and have been positioned alongside Hamilton but below Omega and Longines on the 'luxury' scale. Most Americans would put them below Tag for prestige but I tend to think that is more b/c of marketing than anything else (I don't really care for Tag).

I just bought my 2nd Tissot (Powermatic 80) but had to exchange it with Jomashop for quality issues (but I do like the watch design). I have sort of moved on from the brand but the uniqueness of the Powermatic movement appealed to me.

I don't think so. It's a decent entry level Swiss timepiece. But I don't believe this to be correct at all.

Not above tag. They may have a top end watch that is above Tag Formula Ones but by and large watch to watch I believe Tag has them.

They're not above Tag but I think they are comparable or exceed lower level Tags in quality. Tag has some really shitty lower end watches. I'm just not much of a fan anymore.

Hamilton was the brand I thought of when I read that they were above Tag in the other post. I would put it just below Tag but don't have any personal experience with the quality of Tissot. They had a few watches that I really dug looks-wise.

Then, I suppose we are in agreement.

I wasn't even speaking to personal preference, as I'd probably prefer a Tissot to a Tag. Just to generally known reputation.

I'd buy the Seamaster, but not the Submariner.

I like this one. Don't know if I was better off saving the $300 and getting a tag or putting it towards the seamaster. I am having trouble finding the vintage one I want

Oh. Nevermind then.

You'll be ecstatic to know that your opinion is correct!

Vintage just scares me. As was already mentioned a lot of refurbishing can happen and fakery. Need to do more homework than with modern watches. And modern watches have MORE fakes I would assume. Just vintage fakes take more effort.
