Dragic was much more of a known commodity at this point compared to Davis. The leap he made after being in the league a few years is more impressive than the natural improvement from Davis.

Dragic had a larger one; his teammate came in 4th place of this year's voting, which means he obviously stole some of Dragic's votes.

AD is one of my favorite players in the league (Pels have been one of my league pass teams the past two years because of him), but Dragic deserved this award.

If I'm being so ridiculous why did Davis show up on top for most of the NBA beat writers selections for post season awards? He got more "who would you vote for" votes from ESPN's panel of 30 or so writers but less "who's going to actually win" votes.

Davis' PER jump was higher than Dragic's which was borderline insane considering he was already in the 20s. I wasn't expecting him to win this award, simply framing the point that he could have won the award.

Sort of making the point of why he shouldn't have won it. I expected AD to make this sort of leap this year and majority of people around the league would agree.

You expected Davis to have a PER hovering around 27 for most of the year, good for top 4-6 in the league at any given time? Expected him to almost have a 21/10/3 season? Expected 7 games in a row of 29+ points? Not even the Pelicans Talk people expected that type of jump, myself included.

You are acting like Dragic was healthy the entire season

I'm saying Dragic HAD to play through his injuries because they were in a playoff race. Anytime Davis was less than 100% we either pulled him out of the game or made him sit.

Except you didn't cause you responded to me, twice.

Last time I'm going to weigh in on this subject.

There is slight hypocrisy in the voting. If they go from jumping one season to the next. Gerald Green got snubbed terribly as last year was the worst of his career by a landslide. Green getting the award would make arguing Davis impossible, so I think they got it wrong. If they're going off the entirety of a career, Dragic has posted similar efficiency numbers throughout his career though he did have a career year this year shooting.

Basically, people are arguing that their expectations were for Davis to have a massive jump, so that opinion disqualifies him from the award.

Dragic is clearly the choice here. He should also be on one of the All-NBA teams.

I don't think AD should've won it but I don't agree with these stipulations. MIP is based on performance. draft pick and year in league shouldn't have any relevance

The spirit of the award has never been to give it to the elite prospect who is playing to his potential. A guy like Anthony Davis shouldn't get consideration

Michael Smith's vote:

1.Durant
2.Lebron
3.Griffin
