I agree. I saw it at home and it was meh. But I could see how it would be more impressive in IMAX

If you did not see the movie in IMAX 3D, you did not see the same movie. Otherwise, pretty boring to watch at home.

Truly was not a troll post, I really thought it was terrible. I guess if the whole point was seeing it in IMAX then that makes more sense but then don't even bother releasing it on DVD. The actual movie itself was just really bad.

And I am far, far from a movie snob/critic.

I agree completely. Bullock more annoyed me than made me feel for her. There were a ton of better options for that role to choose from.

I didn't see it in the theater. I'm sure it would have been better in the theater especially in IMAX.

It was awful.

I normally don't care what people like and what they don't because things are subjective.

I've put up a fight with regards to Gravity because it is such a shite movie. I'm not a huge movie snob and my wife certainly isn't. The entire movie we just kept talking about how much of a let down it was.

Ghost Clooney was my breaking point.

I'm not some a-hole that only likes French Cinema or movies by some Palestinian director that only lets people watch his movies in a cave.

Gravity was shite.

Then they should have not released to on DVD or Blu Ray then because it was horrible. Its just Sandra Bullock floating around in a spacesuit grunting and panting the entire movie

Exactly.

Like someone else said as well, she was more annoying than anything, I wasn't even rooting for her.

Only somewhat touching scene was telling Clooney to tell her kid she loved her and that's only because I have a two year old little girl.

Glad others agreed the movie was terrible.

Hmm, this seems to be a recurring theme with the people coming in dissing it. I wonder why? Couldn't be because the film was intended to be seen in a completely different medium. No, it's just the film that has 97% approval rating and also won Best Director just plain sucks.

Never mind the tension, suspense, the 17 minute shots, etc. You can perfectly judge a film in the comfort of your living room watching 3 foot wide television screen when it was intended to be seen in an all immersive IMAX screen in order to use the environment to create the simulation that you are on the verge of being killed in space. Nah, just an obviously horrible movie.

I thought it was a very good movie. Saw it in the 2D first then IMAX.

It created suspense and was visually stunning.

What thriller movie didn't have implausible situations,

Watched it at home before I knew it was nominated for every award under the sun. When it was over, I thought that it may have been one of the worst movies I have seen in awhile. I was actually hoping she would die during the 2nd half. She didn't convey terror, just complete ineptitude. I was truly hoping she would just drown in the lake at the end. When I saw all the nominations, I was baffled.

Yeah, just awful because you didn't see it in its intended medium. I wonder why?

If I have to see a movie in IMAX to enjoy the actual story, then how is it a great movie? I watch movies to feel emotion. The intended emotions of Gravity - suspense, empathy, fear, just weren't conveyed. If the only intent was to be visually stunning, then you are right, I didn't watch it correctly.

Bullock barking like a dog was bad. Made me enjoy Ed Wood's "Plan 9 from Outerspace" that much better.

They weren't conveyed because you weren't in the environment that the movie intended you to be in. The movie intended to make you feel isolated, alone, breathless, and terrified of space itself. The comfort of your semi lit living room on your comfortable couch, with a 3 foot wide screen and your dog striving for your attention ruins everything Cuaron was trying to convey. You may have well have watched The Avengers on your iPhone in low resolution and claimed it sucked. Anyone who didn't see it in its intended format has an irrelevant opinion on the film as far as I'm concerned.

I nerdgasmed over it in theaters, but knew it would not be a good home release. But I also knew exactly what the director was going for, and he succeeded on every single level. It is truly incredible filmmaking, and when it is inevitably rereleased in theaters, you need to go see it in order to truly realize what the film is about. This was a movie that reminded you of not just the magic of movies, but of the cinema itself and why that is the optimal viewing environment for it.

A good movie can be watched on a black and white TV and be good. It doesn't have to be watched in a state of the art theater.

The movie was extremely average. The effects were fantastic, movie, not even good.

It's a movie, not a laser light show.

Most ignorant statement I've read on here in awhile. Congrats on that. You've even lowered the bar for yourself, which I wasn't sure was possible.
