Payton is going back to what got the Lombardi. Young talent blended with a seasoned vet. The 2009 version had the "over the hill" vet at S; the 2014 version has him at CB.
Hope the results are the same!!!

i dont think its a given he plays at CB. we likely arent matching bushs tender now. bailey said hes open to playing safety. seems like he will fill bushs role and be our 3rd safety

So do we still draft a corner in the 1st now?
$10 says we go WR.

rotoworld take-
We realize it's popular at this point in time to chalk up Bailey as "done," but he had an excellent regular season in 2012 before Torrey Smith ran by him a few times in Denver's playoff loss, and Bailey was injured throughout 2013. We're a little more open minded. Turning 36 in June, Bailey's skill set remains an excellent fit for DC Rob Ryan's press-man scheme, where he'll only have to deal with No. 2 corners opposite running mate Keenan Lewis. It's still likely New Orleans uses an early draft pick at cornerback, quite possibly in the first round.

The only this effects is matching Bush's offer. I think they decided to have Bailey in Bush's role last year.

Bailey may have loss a step off his 4.28 40 time, but he should still have enough in the tank to cover a #2 WR.
ETA: Just saw Blues post. I should get a job with Rotoworld!!!

wr or oline. last night, Detelleir was on WWL and said that they were definietly not matching the Falcon's offer to Bush, and that while the Saints wanted Bailey, he felt they would only offer slightly more than the vet minimum. If that is what the contract amounts to, then this is a good deal for all.

OR we could match Bush's offer and really be stacked in the secondary
*gasp*

Yeah I think the idea that a safteys and CBs roles are very different are changing. Especially in a 3-4 scheme. With 5 WR looks, Safteys have to do the work of a CB more often than in the past. I think Bailey will be rotate around the defense like Vaccaro did a lot last year.
