Have to have a degree to get a plant job now. And yes we will always disagree, I think the idea of going to college to get educated in liberal arts us the dumbest thing ever. Its a waste of time and money. And if college isnt an investment then what is it? Even going to get an education in liberal arts should have some roi, if not what the hell is the point?
And btw your way of thinking is the reason we have a student loan debt problem right now.
And a plant operator job is a better job then 85% of the country imo, maybe higher. Is the point of work not to make money, security, and provide a great quality of life? An operators job does that and more.

Depends, if you are part of the 10-15% of public school grads that gets a four year degree? Or you could be part of the 75% or so that went to private school and got a degree, so the difference? Yes it boils down to parenting but being around like minded individuals helps.
I went to public school and you can do fine doing that, but if you arent in the advanced classes then you prolly have less then a 10% chance of graduating with a four year degree and prolly under 5% chance of graduating in anything useful.

I don't think you'd understand it if I took the time to explain it to you

South LA public schools must really be bad. Almost everybody I know in Shreveport/Bossier went to a public high school.

Im an engineer so no I wouldn't, college is about upping the chance to improve ones life, the best way to do that is through a better job, not a useless degree to say well im educated now. No useful skill employers are going to pay a lot for=not bettering your life.
Sorry but frick education for the sake of educw. That is what hs is for.

I think everyone I ever met from Shreveport went to private school.

the top public schools in Shreveport are just as good as the private schools

There would be minimal ROI, if any, to going to a non-public high school in Cenla.

Let me put it this way. I went to one of the better public non-magnet schools in the state, St. Amant High School. I went to k-8 at St. Amant Primary and Lake Middle. Those I know that went through the private system for k-8 learned so much more than I did in school. Those that went to Our Lady of Mercy from k-8 had a far better education and it's obvious. As for high school education, the difference between my education and that of a mid-tier BR Private School (like St. Michael's, for example) was pretty miniscule. However, the difference between how well I was prepared for college (mostly in math and physics) was pretty stark between my education and that of the top tier private schools in BR like Episcopal and Catholic.

who got the worse ROI between the private school kid and the public school kid at LSU?
well the private school kid is also paying $$$ to be a fratstar making connections to get him the cush cush after graduatuion

I had fraternity brothers from Jesuit that knew my sophmore level college calculus material out of high school. Calculus was an elective at my high school that like 5 people took . There is a difference. It might just be the social aspect that most everyone in a private school has more expected of them, but there is a differnce.

I wish I could've gone to Catholic high. Better community, good academics, easier to make friends than BRMHS, and ST JOES hoes! Catholic highalso has quality people, not sketch trash. Only problem is tuition is high, and Im not catholic. And CHS prepares you for college, and they have attractive girls ( mixers, mission trips, field trips). I know many BRMHS people that failed out of college.

How important is a good education for your kids?
Do you sacrifice so they can go to a top notch school? Do you indulge your desires and let them just get by?
It's about priorities.

Whatever you say man. I went to SMHS and I thought LSU was a breeze. Most of my classes from my first two years were material that we covered in high school.

Mortgage is 2k/month.
not really high
So you're saying that a $370,000, 30 year loan at 5% isnt't that high. The OT never disappoints.
