Those that live in glass houses...... there isn't just smoke coming from the democratic party, it's a freakin' mushroom cloud.
- What difference does it make?
- "Tea Party" is just a general term the IRS uses to analyze the dealings of any political group.
- You have to pass the bill to find out what's in it.
- Tell us the contents of your prayers
- It's okay for the EPA to give out the information of people they don't like to environmental activist groups
- Eric holder can investigate himself. No conflict of interest there.
- Let's give criminals in mexico guns so they can kill our agents
- NSA denials

The list goes on and on. Most importantly, the 1930's called and they want their economy back.

Indeed, but I only got interested in Politics once I started to look at my paycheck about a decade ago and saw how much it cost me just to be a citizen in NYC. I don't have context for what the past was like.

Do we just know about all of this crap now because of the ability of anyone to get a story out on twitter or publish a blog?

Or is this literally the worst administration in the history of the United States, but literally 60% of the population doesn't give a frick?

I mean, for example: we know the NSA has been spying against it's own citizens for no good reason other than to monitor political dissent prior to Bush II (something came out in the NSA leaks that they were doing this even on analog phone lines). Did it start with Clinton? Bush I? Reagan? Nixon? Who the frick knows.

We had Iran-Contra with Reagan. What else would come out if we had the same access to information? My sense is that it wouldn't be nearly as bad, but I don't know for sure.

What I do know is that acceptance of a shitshow of a status quo is at an all time high.

No republican, Christie aside, would win your vote anyway.

Right now, he won't. That's not to say that by 2016 you won't have had your fill of DeBlasio and Cuomo and start to align with a politician whose prinicples include reducing the barriers to entering the middle class, expanding that middle class, and getting rid of a lot of the waste that we have in today's environment.

I'm not saying that Paul is that guy by the way, I'm just saying that northeastern progressivism faces some significant challenges given it's current trajectory.

It would not be completely off base to say that a significant number of minds could change if the situation does not improve dramatically. When you say:

quote:

Totally clueless and out of touch with us.

That is your opinion. That said, if the base shifts towards different ideals (e.g., maybe the constitution is okay, maybe government shouldn't turn against it's own people, maybe we should worry about every american instead of segments).

A perfect example of something that could cause this shift are:
- IF the IRS situation turns out to actually be a scandal where the government used it as a weapon to silence political dissent (accounting for the liberal anti-obama groups that were also targeted)
- IF something happens to city / state /federal worker pensions and it turns out that obligations to the workers aren't paid OR obligations to workers ARE paid but at the expense of funding for schools, police, fire, roads etc;
- IF there is another massive attack on US soil

I think you have a MUCH greater chance of one of these events happening combined with conservative small government ideals being adopted by a politician that also thinks progressively in some areas than not.

Again, not saying it's Paul, just saying that there is a very strong chance that NE ideals can shift if shite gets real.

You've approached LSURussian and your infatuation in letting everyone know that and Paul has no chance.

Are you the people's voice in the northeast? How do you know no one likes Paul in the NE? I'm just curious as to where you get your information.

Well there you go then....most of that was happening in the first Obama term and ya'll ran Mitt Romney up the flag pole...how did that work out for the GOP???

It ain't about the stupidity of the DNC my friend....what you seem to be saying is "Oh yeah, well the GOP is as fricked as a soup sandwich but so are the Democrats". Why doesn't the GOP run a serious candidate, one that is actually presidential, and then ya'll can toss stones....otherwise ya'll haven't had a candidate since Daddy Bush who was even remotely presidential....and that includes the Shrub who ya'll elected because of his lineaage and the fact that he had the right color Jersey on when it was game day....

Yes, ya'll have established, ad nauseum, that the Democratic party is over run with Bolsheviks bent on destroying the world...and the evidence is abundant and clear. They have taken over the mass media, the educational system, and they even have the audacity to attack GOD for Christ's sake...and yet ya'll lose not once but twice to Barrack fricking Obama....and your response is that the GOP is no worse than the democrats? One thing for certain, the Democrats have never lost an election in an economy as fricked up as the US Economy was when Barrack Obama whupped Mitt Romney's arse....

Anyone from the Tea Bag winning the nomination ] presents a win-win for the Democrats.

Either the Democrats win the Presidency - win
or the Teabagger wins it, and after 4 years of running the U.S. into the ground - the Teabaggers will finally become irrelevant - win.

Of course - the latter case is one in which the Democrats win - but America doesn't. 4 years may be way too long. Look for widespread support of an Amendment for 2 year terms after that.

Ahhh yes, the tolerant left appears once again. Using the word "teabag" 3 times in 6 sentences.

A word that is either has a mysoginistic anti-woman connotation or an anti-gay connotation.

I remember when I used to be a liberal and we embraced women and those with alternative lifestyles. People like you, and a newfound understanding of math, statistics, and finance are the reasons why I left and became more conservative. I realized I was being lied to, and that the results of progressive policy end up with mediocre to bad outcomes.

Perhaps when you grow up you will do the same.

Winning the straw poll hasn't worked out too well lately for republican candidates.

I really like a Carson VP but like I said I think you have to go one strong one more laid back...

i think Cruz/Carson or Paul/West sound the best to me.

I'm not so sure about that. His libertarian message might sell in New Hampshire.

i don't necessarily disagree with this either, i think it will largely have to do with how hillary/DNC decide to portray their candidate on issues that they have been for the most part rather quiet about NSA, IRS, etc...

those are the issues where a libertarian and a liberal SHOULD be for liberty and freedom of government intrusion, but we will only see once she starts buzzing around again and if she aligns herself more along the side of justifying gov't intrusion w/o regulation or oversight, he could do well there

Especially since I consider New Hampshire to be the best, most competent and most well run state government in the country that generally leaves its citizens alone for the most part.
