The FED wants to act like a government agency

They're able to pretend to be an official arm of the government while remaining mostly closed to transparency.
-They release the minutes of every meeting they have to the public. Those minutes are put online for any of us to read.
-They are audited annually by the Government Accounting Office. The audit is publicly available.
-They are audited annually by one of the Big 4 accounting firms on a rotating basis. The audit is released to the public and is available online for anyone to read.
-The Chairman (now Chairwoman) of the Fed appears before both a senate and house committee quarterly to answer any questions the senators and congressmen want to ask.
-Six times a year the Chair of the Federal Reserve holds a press conference where she/he answers any questions the press throw at her/him.
-The Fed's balance sheet and income statement are updated monthly and is available online.
-The Fed's security holdings are updated weekly and available online.

As long as you're finally admitting that the FED isn't a government agency I'm happy. I feel like we're making progress.
And when did those rules you listed become law? Rather recently, no? FED was started in 1913.
*And a lot of that stuff you listed is done with half transparency, but I'm headed to the gym, maybe I'll fire up another FED thread in the coming days.

You are the one who keeps going back and forth, forgetting what you thought the last time you preached about the Fed's status. According to you, sometimes the Fed is part of the government. Sometimes it's not. Make up your mind.

Debunk it, dawg.

Sure it could, but I don't want my government imposing it on any other nation.

I feel like you're reaching, man. Socialism works in several places that put extremely high emphasis on sound infrastructure (not just highways and bridges, but buses and trains as well) and government regulated healthcare for all. I just don't see it being embraced the same way in the US as it is in say, Germany. Lived there for 7 years, and while I loved the place to death, I kind of disagree with the way the German government limits not only income, but liberties to pursue certain careers. People are kind of strapped down to a career around the time they're 16 or 17.

For one Marx was about removing the government.
Trying to visualize things within the current framework of government is a disservice. What Marx envisioned was nothing even remotely close to what we call government today. For instance there is no political state in his ideals.

Hey, come on now. You took that one out of context. I realize Marxism is about zero government, and having everybody at the same level of power over their own lives. I was talking about socialism there, or at least the socialism I became familiar with in my years living in Germany.

Um, no.
From the very beginning I made it clear that the FED is not an official government agency, you're the one that danced around with semantics trying to deny what I said.
I feel like this kind of back and forth dialogue is helping you achieve a chub, you live for this kind of unethical twisting of meaning.
I remember when you made a huge deal that I misused the apostrophe 's' in 'it's' when it should have been 'its'. You seem to have forgotten the rule.
For nearly 100 years it was not transparent, and now it has some quasi transparency.

I can feel your rational personality in your words.
I apologize, I did not mean to take it out of context. I usually hate when people quote snipe like I just did.

I guess I just don't see the point in judging what Marx believed by your experience in Germany. The economy is capitalist, they have a political government, just because they have some socialized systems doesn't mean it resembles what Marx would have prescribed.

quote:No, you didn't. You didn't say anything about it not being "an official government agency" until several of us in the thread I linked earlier pwned you with your error.
From the very beginning I made it clear that the FED is not an official government agency,
You said it had "nothing to do with the Federal government." No more federal than Federal Express, remember? No gray area, remember?
You are really embarrassing yourself, mo. But I guess you're used to that by now.
Different screen name but still the same ignorant mograyback making a fool out of himself.
BTW, how's the grape stomping business these days?

A chub?
“My world falls apart, crumbles, “The centre cannot hold.” There is no integrating force, only the naked fear, the urge of self-preservation. I am afraid. I am not solid, but hollow. I feel behind my eyes a numb, paralysed cavern, a pit of hell, a mimicking nothingness. I never thought. I never wrote, I never suffered. I want to kill myself, to escape from responsibility, to crawl back abjectly into the womb. I do not know who I am, where I am going—and I am the one who has to decide the answers to these hideous questions. I long for a noble escape from freedom—I am weak, tired, in revolt from the strong constructive humanitarian faith which presupposes a healthy, active intellect and will. There is nowhere to go.”
Something wicked this way comes.

Whatever you need to say to feel good, Russian. Honestly, it really doesn't bug me that you play your games this way.
The point of that thread was to make it clear that the FED is not a federal agency. You would not answer yes or no question in that thread, you live for semantics and twisting things.
Understanding the type of person your are, I would not have made the 'it's no more federal than than federal express' comment. To me that is kind of a comment that clearly has some slight jest, I expect it to be filtered a little bit. But you don't do that. Clearly there is a relationship between the FED and the government, but the entire point of the thread was to make it clear that it isn't a federal agency.

You love to degrade me about this, but it's not degrading. You forget that I'm not a materialist. I happen to enjoy working in a beautiful landscape and creating things.
What I choose to do with my life has nothing to do with these conversations, yet you continue to bring it up. Try and act like the elderly adult that you are, for the sake of your own character.

So, you agree you were wrong claiming the US government admitted it gave $5 billion to Ukraine to get a favorable government installed?
And you admit you said what the US did in Ukraine was worse than Russia invading Ukraine?
And you admit you were wrong saying the Fed had nothing to do with the federal government?
Do you see a definite pattern here? I sure do.

I honestly just laughed in real life when I read your post.
Now it's more like, ohhhhh Russian, doin his thing.
Where as before I'd get angry that you were so unethical in the way you conversed.
You're a beauty, Russian.

You are the most consistently wrong poster on the Poli Board. That is quite an achievement, but not one to be proud of.
