I mean as it sits right now Durant's numbers are still objectively better than LeBron's and Durant is still "having the better season" statistically.
LeBron is the 2 time defending champ. I don't care if he averages slightly fewer points and rebounds. Stats are not all that matter. I mean you see what the dude is capable of.
If the Heat pass the Pacers to finish with the best record in the East and the NBA (as they look like they might after essentially taking it easy for a couple months) then I'd say Lebron had the better season if his numbers are close. I wouldn't always say that but the Thunder are not without talent so it isn't like we're comparing a superhuman effort from one player on an otherwise lousy team to an excellent effort from the best player on one of the best teams.
Anyway, to compare this seasons's results from both players:
Lebron:
26.9 PPG, .580 FG%, 7.0 TRB, 6.4 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.3 BPG, 3.5 TOV
Durant:
31.6 PPG, .507 FG%, 7.7 TRB, 5.6 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 3.6 TOV
Pretty amazing numbers. Durant is more productive but Lebron is more efficient on the balance. It is really close enough you can give it to either player

Please, continue your whining... I am sure I speak for all of us when I say, "I'd like to hear more."
You know you can't disagree with anything I said so your just gonna call me a whiner
A whiner who still says LeBron is the best player in the world, guess you just overlooked that part

Tie goes to Durant on account of LeBron having four in his trophy case.
And we know voters actually vote like this based off history.

They play a large part, yes.
Edit: You are an NBA coach w one season. Do you take prime LJ or prime Kobe for one shot at a title?

Even if the thunder keep the 1 seed in the way more competitive conference? Even after they lost Westbrook for that chunk of time?
And are you saying the heat don't have talent but the thunder do?

Why does LeBron get rewarded for playing in the shittier conference?
OKC will probably end up with the 1 seed in the West, which is a much more difficult task.

LeBron, but I am not arguing Kobe>LeBron. I said it was silly to say MJ>LeBron was the closest.

Your post came across as whiney... sorry, just my opinion.
LBJ is currently the best basketball player in the world... my opinion, yet seems like a fact.
Any unbiased observer would clearly see that the Lebron-lovers and the Lebron-haters balance each other out. Your rant seemed directed solely at Pro-Lebronites. Makes you seem biased on the matter.

Because it isn't the conference. The Heat have dominated the West this year and taken games off against bad teams in the East.

If you show some random person those number with no name next to them, they will pick the second player most of the time
I know stats aren't the end all be all, but just basing it from stats KD is still the MVP.... But we still have a little ways to go. Gonna be awesome watching how these 2 guys finish the year

LeBron is becoming that efficient IMO. He is an elite scorer, rebounder, passer, and defender. His overall skillset may be the best of all-time. I do agree that MJ's cutthroat mentality makes him the best, but I do not believe the gap is insurmiuntable.

I would say getting the #1 seed in the West would be dominating the West.

Maybe so, but it was directed at the LeBron fans who simply disregard any other players in the league
And yes, it's pretty much a fact that LeBron is the best player in the world. I've always said that. But it's still possible for someone else to have a better single season without being the best player in the world

If LeBron wins more titles sure. I'd prefer if it didn't take him building a super team to do so, but that is beside the point.

So KD and the thunder haven't also dominated the west since they are actually sitting at the 1 seed in that actual conference?
And taking games off still counts against your season. Can't just throw those games out

No worries, man. FWIW I love watching KD play. A healthy Thunder/Heat matchup in the championship series would be fricking awesome.

Screw that. We are sneaking into the 8 seed and knocking OKC out of the 1st round
