But it doesn't tell the whole story. LeBron can afford to pick his spots. KD hasn't really had that luxury for majority of the season with Westbrook out.

This excuse is bullshite. If Westbrook wasn't hurt KD wouldn't have been able to have that amazing month which boosted him into MVP talk.

and also..

Westbrook has missed 30 games this year.

D-Wade has missed 16 games this year. Both have missed 15+ games

Did RW miss more games? Yes, but you act like Lebron hasn't had to carry the extra load lately as well.

I'd prefer if it didn't take him building a super team to do so, but that is beside the point.
Just wanted to come in and say this is by far the dumbest statement in this thread. Wilt, magic, Jordan, and Kobe all had super teams, and now lebron does too. Was lebron supposed to waste away in Cleveland because he wasn't lucky enough to be drafted by a good organization? If anything if Lebron had stayed in Cleveland I think he would have been instantly removed from any goat discussion due to being a moron

Durant has a 20 game stench where he was averaging like 37 a game, then LeBron has an awesome game and all the LeBron junkies are back yelling " LeBron is the MVP, GOAT, KD can't hang, ect" like the first half of the season never existed

this is how the season has unfolded

lebron started off on a minute restriction to save him for the playoffs

KD actually had a rough-ish start (for him) to start the year. then russ comes back, then russ gets hurt...then KD goes into super beast mode and the media started pushing him for MVP

since that point, LBJ has gone the motherfrick off himself. this is just the apex of that streak

and KD has slid a bit

it's been great to watch (esp since i own both in fantasy)

A .580 field goal percentage from Lebron is off the charts disgustingly good.

that kind of FG% is elite for a center in his prime like shaq. i don't think most people fully appreciate how amazing that FG% is

be that as it may, i think durant wins the MVP and i won't even be mad about it (deserved or not)

If you care about such things, the PER standings after LeBron's insanity last night: KD 30.44; LBJ: 30.37. Only 17 prior 30+ seasons ever.
17 seasons

I really hope people appreciate what we're watching in real time.

I know the exact thread you're talking about, you just grossly misinterpreted it.

Lebron can now say that his career high is one point better than Gilbert Arenas' career high. Good for him. He's obviously the greatest ever now.

So I took this ridiculous claim and spent a total of 30 seconds seeing how accurate it was.

I picked a random Shaq season and easily found a 7 game stretch better than either one of those

In March of 2000, Shaq averaged 41.0 points, (on 63% shooting), 14.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assist a game

I'm sure there was some context we're lacking like perimeter based player or TS%, even though Stein used FG% because it's better for his mass followers.

Kobe - 7 game stretch averaging 49.1 ppg in 2007

He had a 13 game stretch - entire month - where he when 50/90/40 averaging 43.3 ppg

I could be wrong but Lebron's superstarness to free throw ratio isn't all that high is it?

Certainly not when you factor in how many shots he takes in the paint and at the rim and with contact compared to like players.
