Well, so much for seeing Christina Grimmie again. She got skipped. This is a singing show. I'd like to see all of the singing rather than all of this coaching if I have to pick one. These battle rounds have been disappointing overall...the ones we've seen....

Cary/Sam. Sam's the one who does the weird pronunciation bullshite. So I'm hoping Cary wins. Aside from the beginning though, she sang fairly normally. I think both did pretty good and sounded cool together because they are so different. No idea who he's gonna keep but I hope it's Cary. Seems like he's gonna pick Sam. Yup.

If you have any sort of slightly unique voice, Shakira will love you.

Kaleigh/Noah. She loves all of The Band Perry's songs? bullshite. They split the song weirdly...one of then sings an entire verse by themselves. Weird. Decent battle, but I'd go with Noah just because I think he's more versatile. Blake chooses Kaleigh. I feel like Noah should get stolen but he won't this early in the show (thanks, NBC).

I'm really liking Usher on the show. He's much better this time around. He just gives a shite, man. And that's a really nice change of pace from CeeLo who doesn't really seem to give a frick.

Skimming through one....two....three battles. Thanks, NBC. I want to punch you almost half as much as Carson (so, a whole lot).

Cierra/Emily. I hate how Cierra is singing the verses. They both sound pretty good halfway through. Emily struggling a little near the end. Pretty close battle though. I assume the loser will be stolen here. Emily wins; I'm good with that. Ursh with the steal. Nice.

Shakira in that dress is fricking SICK. Shakira in dem jeans tho.

You can go frick yourself, kind sir.

Btw the previews for the next round of battles looks pretty damn good. Looks like old black dude holds his own against the bald black chick. I'm actually pumped for the next round, which is rare for me with this show.

And I like the idea of one "big name" coming in and helping with everybody. That's a sort of cool little change up.

The "big name" is Chris Martin from Coldplay

Unless he's going to show them how to sing with marbles in their mouths IDK what he's going to be able to help them with.

I mean, I don't like Coldplay (except that "Lights will guide you home" song is pretty awesome), but they are a pretty huge act and he's the front man. That's a pretty big name in music, regardless of your feelings on Coldplay are IMO.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are raid nights, so I am running a little late on this. Thank God for DVR! :)

Cary vs. Sam: I like Sam's voice better and she has MUCH better tone control, but Cary has the much greater power (which can be a negative if she doesn't control it).

The new Cap movie is looking better and better and better and "Shak" looks hot in her ad. Commercial break over, let's get this competition under way!

Sam sounded like she had marbles in her mouth at the beginning of the song. Cary started off real well, surprising me. I've heard pitchy moments on both contestants. Sam surprised me with being able to do fairly well when belting out the song (she seemed a little shaky at the very beginning of the build-up). Tough call. With that I would go with Sam just because I like her voice better. I'm not sure I like the song choice though. Good call, Adam.

Kaleigh vs. Noah: The first practice was surprisingly even considering this is Noah's target zone. The second practice didn't seem to go as well. They both seem to be really relaxed with the song, Noah seems to be having more fun overall though. Both did excellent jobs and I didn't hear a single bad note. I want to go with Noah because he was soooo comfortable with it, but Adam makes a great point in that Kaleigh hung right with him even though this is his genre but isn't hers. That means a lot to me. Because of that I would probably go with Kaleigh, but there is no wrong choice in this one.

No steal from "Ush".

I've been waiting for Christina's competition and it gets relegated to a snippet!?! I blame Carson for this! frick YOU, CARSON! (okay, not really)

I can only guess these shorter ones are clipped because they either suck horribly all around or are seriously one-sided.

Cierra vs. Emily: Not really impressed with either singer in their practices. Apparently "Ush" steals whichever one "Shak" lets go though. Emily had a solid start, Cierra did something strange that I didn't like. Her first bellowing of "braaaaaaave" though was pretty impressive. I think I like Cierra's voice better. As I wrote that, Emily had some definite pitch issues. Not really feeling it with the song choice, but I think I would go with Cierra because I like her voice more and she seemed to have fewer issues. I think "Shak" made the wrong call and "Ush" made the correct one although I think he would have been better served with Noah.

I'm liking the twists for the next round. Not only does it keep the show fresh, but it keeps the artists on their toes as well.

I agree with you in Noah and Cierra. I was really sorry to see the crooner go and I think Shak made the wrong decision.

The second round of battles has me intrigued. We should see every battle this go around, at least.

Pissed they skipped Grimmie, especially with her having millions of fans, you'd think they'd show her performance for the added views alone. She must have murdered that battle, TSwift is right in her wheelhouse. I've been watching some of her stuff on her YouTube, I do like some of her original music and covers, she has some interviews up and she's a super cool chick so I can't hate. Her YouTube channel is named after Zelda for god's sake, wife it.

Been meaning to ask you...why do you put Ush in quotes every time? If you just say Ush we know who you're talking about.

Also, I request that you call him Ursh instead of Ush.

Not me. I liked the knockouts like they had last season. Each artist got to pick his own song and each coach had one steal.

This time the battle contenders have to both agree on a song. I kinda like that.

Coaches still have one steal though.

Yeah I guess I just liked them each doing their own thing and the coach picking from there.

Yeah. I actually like this better than last year's 2nd battle round. Although, I still think that NBC drags this out a little too long until we get to the audience voting.

During one of the prelims Carson referred to Usher as "Ush". It's a pointed criticism of Carson and his being into the Hollywood bullshite of shortening someone's name so you can seem like you know them better than anyone else. With the recent addition of "Shak" I'm surprised Blake and Adam haven't been reduced to "Buh" and "Ah" yet.

I thought about it, but I didn't want to be seen as stealing your thing. Still, I was on the fence ... but with having "Shak" dropped on us (and thus adding it to my list), I think I may have to stick with it.

With all that said, feel free to start using them as well if you like
