Getting a refund after receiving a new debit card...

This is assuredly a stupid question but oh well. I booked a hotel a month or so ago with my debit/check card. I received a new card a couple of days ago because they said mine had been compromised by the Target breach.
My flight got cancelled due to the weather so I called Expedia to get a refund that they said they would reissue to the card.
My question is will having received a new card affect my refund in anyway or will my old card still be linked to our checking account?

1. Never book travel reservations with a Debit Card
2. Never book travel reservations with a 3rd party
2. Never book travel reservations with a 3rd party

Your old card connects to your bank account, so by them reimbursing you card, they are reimbursing you account, which is connected to your new card. All is well.

Any reason why? Done it a hundred times and never had an issue.

Because when you want a refund you have to go through them, and not be privy to the discussion when the hotel inevitably denies your dispute.
My "non-refundable" ( ) hotel didn't pick me up at IAH after flying from India like they should have. I gave the hotel probably 5 calls and an hour or so to pick me up after a 20 hour flight. I booked another hotel on the spot and disputed through Expedia. Expedia took the hotel's "no" for an answer.
Forget that, disputed on my credit card like I should have from the beginning and all was well.

My guess is that:
1. If you dispute a charge it takes longer to get your money back. If you use a credit card then you can simply hold back the amount of your dispute from your monthly payment.
2. The 3rd party is getting paid a commission, so usually you can get a cheaper deal booking directly through the airline/hotel/etc.

Protections is one, the other is not earning any rewards for your purchases. Throwing "free" money out the window.

I'm guessing anyone that uses a debit card for large purchases doesn't have a credit card with rewards.

Or you don't want to accrue interest if you don't practice paying off your credit card regularly

You'd be shocked how many people do this not because they are irresponsible, but out of sheer habit.
