I'm interested in a duck lease for the 2014-2015 season. Looking between Baton Rouge and Lafayette/Opelousas area. I have two boys 10 and 8 that are really getting interested and would like to have a place to take them. If you personally have something or know of someone else is appreciate your response! Thanks!

I'd advise going public while your boys are young and just getting into it.

Look man all joking aside you are better off on public right now. Any lease worth it weight will cost some seriuos coin and even then you have to be jn the know to pick one up. I'm assuming that you arent' in the know if you are listing here for lease.
If I was you I would sink the money I would use on lease into getting a decent boat, nothing fancy just gotta float and run. Post your email and I can point you in a few direction.
Hope you get your boys on some birds. I remember shooting my first duck with my dad like yesterday.

I'm with everyone else here...highly recommend public land hunting to start out. Leases are expensive. Not to mention some "old timers" that have been on a lease tend to run the lease...and personality conflicts may arise. Unless there's a family option for you!

If I lived back home, although home is a little North of BR, I wouldn't even think of leasing. Buy a bad arse boat and a adequate wheeler and hunt public.

If a lease has an opening there is a reason, and it isn't for too many birds...

My boss and his 2 sons paid 20K for a lease up around Lake Village,Ar this past year. They did it to bring clients and use as a write off but totally Insane!!!!!!!!!

How did they do? My in-laws farm a little South of there in Wilmot, Eudora, Parkdale. Been ok. There's some public timber that beat them up good though.

I know you don't want to hear what everyone has told you thus far.. but listen to them.
This was my first year on a lease. It was rough. The lease cost a fortune and I know for a fact you can have just as good hunts on public land. I've done it.

I currently have 4 blinds in a sw la marsh and am adding upto 4 more for next year. Those 4 will be on a rotation system and are in cameron parish. I prob will need 1 more guy for a blind as 2 or 3 are spoken for. Its a lil far for u to drive but if u have a place to stay then the hunting is really solid. ill prob have a lot of pep hit me up but i wont know for sure till july but i will come to this board to offer the opportunity if there is one. blinds are about 2k a year. we had 1 of the 4 go over 700 5 years in a row and 2 consistently kill over 400 but are hunted less. the other one is hit or miss and doesnt get hunted much. pretty much kill all good ducks. i pass on scaup but they r there.

its grey duck city wt a fair amount of teal, widgeon, and pintail. do kill some mallards. used to be a teal marsh pre katrina/rita. we allways had 4 or 5 groups of 30+ every hunt come in. from 95-2004 it was ridiculous. esp 99-2001. the 1st split of 2000 i killed over 200 mallards out of one blind. that was a weird year tho--->>prob robo ducks.

You in fields or in the marsh? Without giving exact location can you give more info of where in Cameron?

I'm interested as well.... Was just having a discussion this morning with a buddy from Beaumont about switching it up this year and getting lease. Field or marsh?
