You got to burn retrograde to slow down or you'll shoot right past/through the gravitational pull by going too fast.
In other news, I should have stuck my landing on Duna but got lazy at the end thinking I was slow enough/close enough. Kerbol lived, but redoing it tomorrow. It will happen.

This game is so much damn fun
Even if you have a failed landing attempt, it just creates another situation where you could go rescue someone. I was going to try and land a kerbal on Ike (Moon of Duna) tonight but I had an encounter with Kerbin's moon and it shot me off course. I'm having a hard time getting an encounter.

This thread makes me want to play.

It's a lot of fun. There are people playing the demo that are having a blast. I'd say do that first. If you're into space exploration, it's perfect.

I've been playing the demo for a few days, there's something strangely satisfying the first time you get someone in space, or complete an orbit or go zipping by the moon as your little astronaut screams his head off cause he knows he ain't coming back.

I keep finding out when I get to Duna of design flaws I didn't notice earlier.
So this time, I get to the surface all fine and dandy, except, the nuclear engine is just slightly longer than the engine I had previously, so when I landed, the engine slightly broke off.
Guess who is marooned.
Here's the pic now:

This surprises me. I get an Ike encounter almost every time I'm slowing up to orbit Duna, but I keep burning past it since that isn't my goal. Kind of hoping I can do a "two for one" Duna and Ike mission now that I think I have the kinks worked out.

I found it for $17.99 on gamefly. That seems worth it. Better than $27.

I guess that's the lowest price I'll find.

Yeah when I bought it it was around $25. I'm guessing that will be the lowest.

How long until you get to the good stuff? I suck and I'm losing interest.

I'm where you are. I havent watched a ton of tutorials and read up on this game much, so I still need science.
My greatest achievement was putting a ship in orbit for an hour or two. However, just learning how to do that on my own was very fulfilling.
If I had more time I'd be trying to reach Mun. But I just like building ships and seeing where they take me.

You can play sandbox mode and you automatically get everything. It takes a while to get to the good interplanetary stuff in career mode.

Watching tutorials on YouTube is well worth the effort as well if you don't mind the help

Bumpity bump. Thinking about getting back into KSP with the new release of the asteroid redirect patch coming out. Anyone done anything interesting lately?

Im most interested in the improved strut free stability of larger rockets.

Same here. I can't tell you how many times I've built some solid rockets then when I start my gravity turn, they wobble and break apart.

I downloaded the demo tonight but won't take a crack at it until this weekend. I got a little carried away downloading demos in steam once I got to looking around.
Has anyone played particulars? It's a nerdy game about subatomic particles. Lol i might try it as well this weekend.
