Poor, trashy and mad is no way to go through life. Get a job, read a book and calm down.
Cruises ARE trash.
Cruises ARE trash.

quote:why would you like Bourbon Street if you think cruises are trashy?
Yea because walking on bourbon street for two hours is the same as committing yourself to a shitty boat with trashy people for five days
That makes no sense, no matter how you try to spin it.

The food isn't that great, I'll admit that but what do you expect on a cruise that cost $250.00 per person for a 5 night cruise. They don't serve filet mignon, caviar and Crystal.
I agree with everything you said... Most people on this board are too cheap to toss the bartender a extra dollar on a drink, but they can act like the eat filet, caviar, and Cristal. The drinks are typical $6-9 a drink, which are typical prices for any city.

This guy gets it.
I take my kids on cruises. My wife loves the structure of it. If it is just me and my adult son, we fly somewhere and stay for the week.
I started a thread a while back about renting a car in Mexico and most of the posts were how I was taking my life in my hands and 'prayers sent.'
I use a cruise as a taxi to get me to the places I want to go. Once I'm in port, I head my way, and leave the other cruisers to cruiseline excursions.

my only cruise experience was circa 1990 for my honeymoon... it was awesome!!
But that was when it cost $4500.00 for 2 people and included the flight to/from Puerto Rico where the ship embarked. It was normal also to book through a travel agency then.
I guess back then price/ embarkation point was a barrier for "trash" to cruise. It was Norwegian Cruise lines and they had a really good reputation.
We also had awesome ports of call so my experience was quite favorable then just getting hammered at the pool/ bar... Martinique, Aruba, St. Maarten, St. Thomas(only island that felt touristy)

You're getting too angry now. There is more to Nola than bourbon street.
Let's be honest, there are some trashy ppl on cruises.

Go on an expensive cruise line. More dining options, richer trash, but definitely an older demographic for the most part. Food is much better. Carnival was fun when I was in my late teens and early twenties and looking for some trashy fun.

All cruising isn't equal. There are luxury lines, small ship-adventure cruises, etc. Luxury, small ship cruising is more like yacht travel.

337 where do you fall in a 1-10 trashy scale?
1 being me and 10 being PJ

I wouldn't say trashy, but definitely not what I would consider a good vacation. Or even a mediocre vacation.

Oh, and Crystal Cruises FTW.
Bill Gates chartered one of Chrystal's ships for Paul Allen's B'day one year.

Depends on what you're looking for. Nicer cruise lines have much better food and more options. Nice spas and can be very relaxing. Sometimes we want more action packed vacations and sometimes we want to be lazy. It's great for the latter of the two. But we certainly aren't going Carnival. Those calling them trashy have never been on a luxury cruise line.
