Tulane baseball draws a lot of people
You must not have been to a game in years
ha, it actually has been a while but back when I was in high school (in their prime), I went to games all the time and it was always a great atmosphere.

there is a giant student parking lot right there in front of the athletic center, though it is for students so I don't know how it could be utilized
also, you could do what I often did, park across st Charles. I wouldn't hesitate walking magazine up to Claiborne, with a nice stroll through the campus...tailgating in Audubon

You talking about the Diebold or whatever parking garage? They use that for baseball games already.

No doubt. Now they really have 1000 people in the stands.
Me thinks this has something to do with LSU getting back off their arse, but I don't follow baseball recruiting.

would it be at all possible for Tulane to eventually buy the houses surrounding the area?

NIMBYs are really gonna go apeshit when Warren Easton plays Karr there lol
Posted on 1/17/14 at 12:27 pm to threeputt
the nola bowl is going to be played in Tulane stadium?
ULL people in uptown...the NIMBYs will flip.

ULL can get fricked, the only time they'll play in that stadium is when they play us, and there won't be many tickets available for the destitute, I mean ULL crowd.
Both schools really need to get off their asses (and get over themselves into thinking they will ever - or ever again in Tulane's - case have a 'rivalry' with LSU) and make that a yearly home and home.
Each team is really each other's best and only hope for a true legitimate rival, but sadly each has a large segment of its fanbase who are pining something else pie in the sky that will never (or never again) exist.

Not those neighborhoods
for purchasing the land, eminent domain or both?
I admit I do not know much about NOLA politics other than it apparently puts most city governments to shame with its corruption.
The way it was once described to me was imagine if pretty much everyone behaved exactly like Dallas County Commissioner Dallas John Wiley Price.
here is a little on JWP for those who don't know him

Of course I'm not so sure that "Our Man Downtown" is much worse than any of the other Dallas leaders.
Is Tulane essentially in the same price range of neighborhood as SMU is in Highland Park making home acquisition extremely expensive?

eminent domain
Tulane ain't got that kind of clout to try to even begin to think about pulling that off.

All of the above. Some of New Orleans' wealthiest and most influential families live adjacent to Tulane. Million dollar homes. Not a chance in hell of buying their homes or using eminent domain.

Why did they go with the fake turf on the baseball field?
Posted on 1/17/14 at 12:31 pm to Dr RC
Tulane is next to some of the highest priced neighborhoods in the city.

Because it's now also the football practice field. Seriously.
