Absolutely agree. Plenty of people (myself included) with no ties to Tulane that had no interest in spending their Saturday afternoon in an empty Superdome would love to catch a game at the new stadium. Evening/night games (not conflicting with LSU) could also bring in lots of people

It is going to be so awesome. I think we fill that 30K easier than people think.

figures that right when I move, we get a fricking stadium. Still flying in for the opener though, then 1 or 2 games a year

Obviously that would be a long way off

if it does happen, and I'm not getting my hopes up, it will be quicker than you think

c.j. and the stadium are going to bring in much better players

genius hosting high school games there...absolute genius.

only the football practice field while construction is on going.

baseball is turf because just maybe, in New Orleans, it rains a lot, especially in the Spring when it is baseball season and the field drains.

Just maybe.

I am happy Tulane has a stadium on campus. I hope they draw well. As an LSU alumni I would love to see the Tulane-LSU series get started again.

But LSU has graduate programs and research dollars that blow away Tulane. So don' get started on a who's the better academic school argument. Sure Tulane students may have higher ACT scores than LSU students but when you look at the totality of LSU and it's vet school, med, school, Law School and graduate programs at the Baton Rouge campus and don't forget the Land Grant status of LSU it's not even close. LSU does more research, gets more research money and generates more revenue through research than Tulane.

ULL is a good school, but it is not in the same as LSU.

it is ok. Maybe they'll calm down if LSU lets them have the UL thing.

TULANE is the University of Louisiana.

One thing I am curious about; if the Tulane program became a consistent winner and did find itself drawing large crowds, is there room for stadium expansion of any sort?

I'm not talking about making it as large as the old Tulane Stadium, mainly just adding more premium seating.

It doesn't look like it.

Didn't know if there were any sort of plans for that.

Cowen and Dickson have said yes there is room for expansion.

As for Rivals, ULL's natural rival is McNeese. But they are in different divisions and different level of school, so that's done. Their chance is La Tech.
TU's natural rival of course is LSU. But Tulane didn't stay in the game athletically, so that's done for the foreseeable future. We hung in for a while with our 1/2 a$$ support from administration, but the conglomeration of the former eastern independents into conferences in the 1990s + BCS made it impossible to compete with our generally 1/2 hearted effort.

Tulane has been donated some property that is part of the $150 million athletic facility master plan. You will hopefully see an IPF there in the near future

Good, I want Tulane to be good again (8-10 wins every year) and I want LSU and Tulane to do play every other year. Tulane can have their home game in the dome (AC and beer ), I never want LSU to lose to Tulane, but I want it to atleast be competitive.

Also do you know where this property is?

I believe it's the back end of the Goldring spread that;s on Jefferson highway (the liquor distributorship). I don't know where exactly it hits on Earhart.

The Calhoun side of the stadium would be the place. The houses on that side are a lot cheaper. It would still be expensive to buy all of them up but it would be way cheaper than the Audubon side.

That's it.
5 or 6 minutes down Claiborne/Jeff Hwy. Right on Orleans/Jeff border.
