I'm sure it's a fine school, fact is Tulane is better and I don't want us playing the university of Mississippi at tupeolo (made that up but you get what I am saying) either.

We're Tulane. I do not want a rivalry with a very inferior school. It brings us down. We should not be looking for a "local" rival. Just how I feel. I'm not talking shite.

There is nothing competitive about the schools and there never has been. I'm sorry, but the students and alums will never accept or get up for such a lame rivalry because frick it, we have to have a rival.

He said "they are not a real school"

That's something a Walmart LSU fan says.

All he said was that tulane was a much better university than UL-L .. That is not debatable

I don't disagree, but to say that they shouldn't play a yearly game because we are "beneath" Tulane?

We both know that playing each other keeps money in the state and will attract large crowds every time that game is played. I thought Tulane people were good with numbers.

Seriously, Tulane fans talking smack about any other school or any other fan base is as funny as it gets. I had the chance to go to the Tulane/Tulsa game this year, and I've seen more excitement at a Jesuit football game against a New Orleans public school.

pretty much sums up what I am saying. ULL is locals who don't interact with, don't have much in common with, etc...Tulane. What a stupid rivalry. Does Tennessee or Vanderbilt have a rivalry with UT Chattanooga? no.

"We are better than that."

Right, so let's play teams like Ole Miss and LSU at home where our fans will get outnumbered 10-1.

Why are you comparing Tulane to schools that win football games?

the primary function of a school isn't athletics...again, no thanks.

How are you posting from way back in 1966? Tulane isnt an SEC team anymore. Your program is just a few years removed from nearly flat lining. Tulane University is a respected name. Tulane Football is not. Climb down off your high horse and don't try to tell people what Tulane football is "above".

LSU is a classic rival...so if that could ever materialize then great.

Tulane isn't trying to fabricate a rivalry, those occur naturally. I'm sorry, I don't want to be a dick, just how I feel.

I didn't realize we were talking about quiz bowl. This is a pretty cute little way to try to rationalize not wanting to get your arse kicked by a Sun Belt team every year.

I don't want us having a rivalry with bumfrick Lafayette. I'm sure ULL has a fine football program, but I don't like the association between the two SCHOOLS...helps ULL, hurts Tulane.

I'm sure ULL will legitimize itself another way

FYI, I'm a NOLA local who went to a catholic high school with a good number of friends and family who all went to Tulane.

But you're right. They're all above me.

Go ahead and start some rivalries with the likes of Harvard and Yale, and tell me how that works out for you.
