re: Article: Why Texas was so confident they'd get Nick Saban

There's nothing to be mad about. As it stands at the moment, the situation is no different than it would have been were there no story. Whether or not that continues to be the case remains to be seen.

But Katy, it's not even in the realm of possibility for Saban to leave. At all. EVAR. That's what they've been trying to tell us all along, and consequently why their thongs get knotted whenever anyone even remotely hints at the possibility that Nick Saban - paragon of honesty, integrity and transparency would ever leave Tuscalooser.
That's the thing though. Just because you and other people keep saying that "they think there's no way Saban would leave" doesn't make it true. This and other boards are notorious for taking random comments on the internet or a talk radio show and generalizing that to the other 2 to 3 million Alabama fans out there. You guys SO BADLY want Alabama fans to truly feel this way so that if Saban does leave you can rub their noses in it. If Saban stays at Alabama the next 3 to 5 years and retires some of you will STILL keep droning on and on about how Terry hates Tuscaloosa. I guess the narrative then will be that Saban just couldn't get all these other schools and NFL teams to hire him and therefore had to "settle" for the Alabama job.

That's not even close to being accurate, but I see where you're trying to go with it. As someone mentioned before, "plausible deniability" is the name of the game in this case, if but for the simple fact that folks know that Saban's flat-out lied through his teeth in the past in similar circumstances and he knows that he can't play that card again.
Hell, I WISH that it were Mark Richt at the center of all this. Even if it were, though, I can't imagine that I'd get foamy spit in the corner of my mouth like all of the Bammers on here at the mere MENTION of the slightest of possibilities of Saban's head being turned by another program.
That's what's so funny to everyone not wearing houndstooth during all this. The blind Bama fanbase is the punchline to every joke imaginable. You guys carry on like a bunch of Finebaum's callers. "B-b-b-but, Pawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwl..."

You realize that the only place where Saban to Texas is not being laughed at is right here, right? Even the Texas folk laugh at the suggestion at this point. Quit being so angry, and quit getting trolled.

Ya know, this could be put together mostly on lies and with a little truth sprinkled here and there. But damn, Chatsports did a hell of a job tying all that together.
Back home, we'd say it's at least "told as true".

The fundamental difference between the two narratives has been that virtually everyone on the Saban to Texas side all along has acknowledged that he could stay.
The Bammer faithful can't even comprehend a scenario where he leaves.

In case anyone is interested, it appears Nick Saban has started a thread on the Money Talk Board asking for job advice. "Should I take it or should I stay?" His screen name is "I Love Bama."

Yet they immediately attack en masse any thread that suggests the possibility.

After reading the article- one realizes the internet chatter was fairly accurate- especially the info obtained from Shaggy Bevo.

Why do I believe all of that??? Nick to Texas is still alive. Coaching changes board may be exploding on January 3rd.
From what I'm hearing tonight, precisely January 3rd. I don't think Bama fans should feel too confident he stays til then.
