inherently wrong to take someone's paycheck for behavior that was encouraged by the company just a few short years ago.

There's nothing inherently wrong about it. It's a dangerous hit that's against the rules.

Notice how ESPN hijacked this story and inserted itself into the actual narrative itself? You're not asking if this is right or just. The first question out of your mouths is whether some ESPN personalities will pay the fine for him. This is why ESPN is evil and must be stopped. This is not a story about Ahmad Brooks. This is a story about Ray Lewis.

Every word of this post is true. Man, I fricking hate ESPN. and I hate Ray Lewis, so of course they hired him. I can't stand it.

Exactly. Cry me a river. When the 49ers lose their coach for an entire season because the NFL needed a scapegoat for players from the 1970s committing suicide, then we'll talk about what's "fair."

No different than a bounty. Paying someone for an illegal hit.

Yep...their whining isn't going to make the NFL stop. It is what it is...get used to it.

So, you can't tackle the QB by his chin
you can't tackle the QB below his knee
you can't tackle the QB above his chest
you can't tackle the QB while lowering your head
you can't tackle the QB and drive him to the ground

Looks to me like the 49er defender hit Brees with his chest, didn't land on top of him, and was trying to perform a league accepted tackle. With the perfect tackle a few years ago, Brooks would have just nailed Brees from the backside, pile drove him to the ground, and probably would have broke Brees collarbone.

How long until the NFL rule book reads this..

You can't tackle the QB.

I agree with the penalty but I also I agree with he shouldn't be fined. Kinda wander if he keeps his mouth shut after game about it if he still gets fined.

Okay, I think the call was correct for the rules that are written. But this is downright pathetic of the NFL.

The NFL fines all of these kind of penalties we just never hear about it. The fines increase as multiple offenses accrue over a players career.

Why did Brooks arm end up around Brees neck? It's because Brooks could not perform a normal tackle on the qb. He was forced into hitting chest first and he had to make sure that he didn't fall on top of Brees.

The defender is in a no win situation. If Brees didn't fold like a chair the arm, which we all agree started around Brees chest, would not have ended up around Brees neck.

Look at these tackles

OMG! Hands around the neck. Fine them! Suspend them! Ban them!!!!

What were your thoughts on their take that PI should have been called against the Panthers?
