quote:See this is what i 100% disagree with. There have been multiple cases in which a woman has done this. Hell, it happed to Charles Scott at LSU within the last year, and he was later cleared of the charges. I am not saying for certain what happened in this case, but saying no woman would lie is absurd
but it seems highly probable that somebody hurt her, because no woman in their right mind would put themselves through that unless they were harmed

Haha...Maybe i shouldnt of used the word "tip". That makes it sound like the Journalist received an anonymous letter like the Joker would send to people haha.
But when you look at the report and see all the screw ups the T.P.D made I can see why it quickly disappeared. I mean the girl did call the police immediately and had a rape kit performed on her and blood tests done(not sure if thats the same thing). But the only mistake the girl made was she decided not to pursue a case, and thats because the Detective "encouraged" and influenced her decision. I wouldnt of thought that the Detective and the P.D might indeed be a scum bag and not do their jobs in that moment if I was the girl.
As to why it all of a sudden resurfaced in the past 2 weeks, I dont really have an answer for you. A journalist was the only 1 that actually did his job in all of this and found out that Winston was indeed the accused.
And i dont think it really matters why it all of a sudden re-appeared. The case shouldnt of been closed like it was. I dont think anyone can argue that. So far, the way the T.P.D handled it is what really bothers me the most. I mean these are guys whose job is to protect and serve and uphold the law. And those guys that are supposed to do that flat out didnt follow protocol in a case like this, and basically encouraged the girl to not pursue the case, failed to pass the case up to their superiors, and then notified FSUs football attorney about the situation without telling the girl or her legal reps and gave FSUs attorney and Winston all that time to get witness and testimony in place.
And again, Im not for or against Winston or the girl in this case. We dont know if he did or didnt do the things the girl accused him of. All I can tell from whats been released is that this Detective is a dirt bag and what he did makes it look like he was covering up for Winston and sweeping this case under the rug. Again, we dont know if Winston did or didnt do these things. Regardless, the actions of T.P.D and this Detective make it look way worse and it makes 1 think that Winston did in fact do something sketchy. Not by what the accuser said or what the media says and all that, but by the actions of the Law Enforcement. Thats what irks me the most.

You are pretty naive if that's your line of thinking.

Alright, so he encouraged her to not press charges when Winston had yet to take a snap at FSU, but, all of a sudden, this case re-appears when Winston looks like he's a sure-fire #1 pick in the 2015 draft?
Dude read the articles. If someone you know is raped and a detective "encourages" them not to press charges are you going to oblige him? Or tell him to shut the frick up and do his job? From January to April they repeatedly asked if he had collected DNA evidence from the suspect and had he interviewed the roommate which she claims witnessed the rape. The whole time the detective says no because, "he doesn't want to tip off the suspect". But he had already told the suspect's attorney in February that the case was closed.
Are you under the impression that she decided not to press charges at some point?

absolutely. amen to that. but i'm not saying that a woman wouldn't lie. I'm saying that when she calls the police right after, and when she goes to see a SANE nurse, it adds a lot of credibility to her story that she was assaulted. not 100%, but a lot of weight.

And blood work done on the victim showed she wasn't intoxicated.

I'm still confused on how she said he was 5'7" in the initial report, but easily picked out his face.

Nope, Baylor has the most to gain from this story. Strength of schedule dictates Bears will pass OSU, if both run the table.

Let's take a step back on the detective telling people to "back off" or this "will end badly for you." One, the only evidence that this statement was made comes second hand from a statement by the victim's family that was allegedly made to their attorney. Two, the article doesn't say the detective said "back off" or that he said this "will" end badly. Everyone is reading that into the selective quotes. He, allegedly said...
Both are true statements. Imagine how this poor young lady could be treated if people knew her name. Without context, those selective quotes sounds look he had a bad motive.
Using the selective quotes, what if he was simply counseling the family's attorney to prepare for the road ahead: "Ma'am, we are moving forward with this investigation, but 'Tallahassee is a big football town.' Your client might 'be made miserable' by irrational fans and fellow students. You should take precautions in the event your client's name is found out."

A Tallahassee detective told an accuser's attorney that Tallahassee is a "big football town" and her client's life could "be made miserable" if she pursued a sexual assault case against Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, according to an exclusive statement released by the family

you are pretty naïve if you think there are a ton of girls running around going to SANE nurses to make up rapes.
i'm not even ruling it out as a possibility that she is making it up, i'm just saying that when a woman puts herself through all of that, there is a very good chance that she isn't making it up.
who is being naïve now, Kay?

The regret rape accusations usually come the next morning after sobriety has been regained and the first catty texts/Facebook postings of "friends" have been received.

not true
The statement — released through the family's attorney, Patricia Carroll — is the first public comments from the complainant and her family since allegations surfaced last week that the Heisman Trophy front-runner was involved in the investigation of a sexual assault reported in December.
According to a heavily redacted police report, the woman said a sexual assault happened between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Tallahassee police responded to a call about two hours later.
After the woman — a Florida State student from the Tampa Bay area — identified Winston as the suspect in early January,

The case was never submitted by PD to the prosecutors (evidence)

Yea I agree with a lot of that. But, regardless of how he said it, he influenced the young ladys decision. Hes not a lawyer. Hes a detective. A detectives is : A person, usually a member of a police force, who investigates crimes and obtains evidence or information.
A detective should not be an influence on someones decision to pursue or not to pursue legal action. Thats is a lawyers job.
And not only that, but the detective flat out didnt do his job and the main thing was he didnt pass this up to his superiors.
Yea it would suck. I agree. But that almost suggests that its ok for big time stars in cities to break the law and not have to face the consequences. I mean who wants to be the person that gets the best player on any sports team or the star in a city in trouble? Everyone loves that person, so I guess that person has free reign to do whatever that person wants to and not have to face any consequences?
What would have a bigger affect on a person? Being disliked in a city or being raped, assaulted, beaten, robbed, etc. And im not talking about Winston in this situation, Im talking about any celebrity, star, politician, etc. Those people think they are above the law because they have the support of their city or whatever. And thats just flat out not true. If someone was raped, assaulted, beaten, robbed, etc. by a big star or celebrity, they shouldnt be afraid to come forward with it due to the threat of being hated by everyone there. And if that person is found guilty and that city still hates the person, then that city is just extremely screwed up. If that person was indeed found guilty, its not the victim that did anything wrong.
