i agree but the d has been a problem this year. Im with you on how we are losing and it being a problem with miles but in reality we aren't firing miles. I realize that so the best we hope for is some a staff change. the staff needs new blood.

yep and people are scared to go back to that. they see nebraska and tennessee who fired 9 and 10 win coaches as well and because they were legends growing up we dont want to make that mistake. They dont see that tennessee and the huskers dont have a advantage in todays age while we do. the talent here and around us dwarfs both of them and the ease we can pull in talents dwarfs them. the positigers also fail to realize it wasn't the firing that was the downfall of those once proud programs it was the hiring.

unlike bama and uf fans that see titles as the goal and the only acceptable solution they believe being in the hunt is the way to go. Bama and UF replace coaches much quicker than we do.

What coaches did Bama or UF fire for consistently fielding a conference and national title threat?

The Rant would have fired Spurrier for getting pounded by Nebraska in a title game. Hell, Steve averaged 2 losses a year at UF. Bitch coach

The whole point of the thread is that he's not getting fired and it is what it is. Unless the program goes 2-2 the rest of the way, then tanks the next two years and he goes 7-5 (3-5) consecutively, which is extremely possible.

Les Miles is not a threat to a conference or national title, though.

With the state of where we are as a program, I think you can only fire him after consecutive 7-win-or-less seasons. If that were to happen, I think you would be surprised by how many coaches could equal or surpass what he has done. Being that we have no in-state rival, and Louisiana high school talent is what it is, recruiting would handle itself as long as we continually updated facilities. Coaching wise, there's always going to be disagreement.

Perhaps Peterson?
Perhaps Strong?
Perhaps Smart?
Perhaps Kelly if he tanks in Philly?
Perhaps someone else?

Who knows?

And do you see this happening any time soon???? I see LSU as a 9-10 win a season team, Sometimes even better. Look I am just as frustrated as you are in Miles coaching methods. But We could be fans of Kentucky. Think about it.

that is a dumb way to justify being happy with 9 wins saying we could be uk. No we can't be uk. there are differences in us and uk. Uk isn't a football school and they dont have any ability to sustain success for a long time. LSU is a top 12 or so school historically and we have the ability to move into the top 10 and further if we so choose to do so. we can't win every year but we have to stop with this it could be worse attitude and stop acting like having a coach that cant manage a clock is ok. i mean come on peej even you could have managed that clock last night to give us a shot to throw a hail mary.

honestly the best answer to who would be reasonable to replace les would be someone that has done about what he did at okie state. you find coaches like that and we could plug them and chug them all day to a nice cool 80 percent win here. The old timers still aren't getting that the schedules are different. hell the schedules are different from when saban was here. If saban gets the extra games each year you could add one win to his total for each year here

wins are not what is counted. It is losses. FLORIDA counted losses and set the standard with Zook. Zook had a 4 loss, 5 loss and a 4 loss season. he was then run out of town. Miles would need 4 loss seasons. he almost had that in 2010 if not for Lee bailing him out at UF and against UT at home. 5 in 08 and 4 in 09.

LSUAD is not going to fire him even if he went 8-4 for the next five years.
