We have that and yes, the wife now works only two days a week and I'm retired. Did that at 52 years old.

Yeah that is me and my husband(I make more, not twice though). He jokes that he will gladly be a stay at home dad if we have children. I nipped that idea in the bud right away

most jobs are shitty, if you weren't at work somebody else would be there doing what you do and nothing would be different. A new mother's child only has one mom to be there for them.

That works both ways too! Dad needs to spend as much time as he can with the kids.

How many couldn't be replaced within a couple weeks? If you think you couldn't be replaced you are lying to yourself

So all the female pediatricians that care for your children have shitty jobs as well? A female brain surgeon has a shitty job and can be replaced quickly?

That's why I said 99%

There's not many jobs I think are more important than being home with your child.

Gotcha. I think every couple makes the decision regarding that based on what works for them and their family. Not every couple realistically has the option of the mother staying home. If they do, more power to them. If they don't, they shouldn't be made to feel like they are not as good of a parent as those that do stay home.

Being financially secure is important as well.

It is but most aren't willing to do without unnecessary luxuries that would allow them to live off one income. Everyone have to live in the nice neighborhood, buy a new car every 3 years, carry $1,000 purses, etc.

Well to be fair.....you would want to live in a decent neighborhood if you live in a state with good public schools.

I know what you mean though. I'm gonna try to go into savings mode after the holidays myself(not including my new jeep payment each month now )
