Went to PH once. Waitress did not know shite about beer. Unacceptable at a tap house.

I really considered applying there.

Not that I'm some grand beer connoisseur either, but I drink craft beer as a hobby and I would at least be familiar with names/styles. These girls ask you to spell out what you want so they can write it down

I've had similar experiences with the waitresses there, but I usually know what I am going to order anyway and don't need any input from the wait staff so this doesn't bother me much. I tell them what I want and they bring it to me. The fact that PH is non-smoking is enough of a plus to overcome the ignorant waitresses for me.

Yea that was a turn off, last time I ordered a beer (dark ale) and she brought me something light colored. I told her it was wrong beer and her responses was, "did you taste it"
Kinda like what the hell, I know what I ordered and that wasn't it but she brought it back anyway and I saw guy behind bar taste it, her look at her pad, then him pour it out.

I tend to be patient with the girls because I do know that the place is new, and when you don't have a personal interest in something, you aren't going to take to it very easily.

I can learn all the words to songs I like instantly, but I can't learn my Spanish homework without hours of studying.

Problem is: There isn't some influx of attractive girls wanting to cocktail who have at least a decent knowledge of craft beer. Because of that, the girls they have just don't know what's going on. On one hand, I see why some are in favor of doing away with them, but on the other, the bar has a wait WITH cocktail girls going around. The bar would really have a wait without them.

Yeah, this happened to me too. Again, it did not bother me at all. As long as I get the beer I order, I don't care whether the server knows shite about beer. I guess I am in the minority here though.

I've had waitresses ask me what IPA stands for at numerous restaurants/bars.

I heard the rent was 11,000. That's a big nut to cut.

One of the few times I went, it was after work on a Friday, and the waitress was impressively knowledgable. She recommended something and knew what she was talking about. It smelled of her having studied though, as opposed to an already existing love of craft beer. But that sort of impressed me even more.

And if I remember right she wasnt real sharp on prices though and that kind of bugs me

The Bulldog just kills this place, IMO .. minus the cig smoke .. which I think is worth dealing with at this point vs. PH ..

I just can't believe that any business would still allow people to smoke inside.

From what I've seen PH has a better selection than the Bulldog. They both have a lot of crap, but PH has better stuff on their permanent taps. Rotating taps have seemed about the same, maybe with PH getting a slight edge.

I'm hoping the ignorance on the waitresses will get worked out in time. I'm going to cut them some slack in the early stages of the establishment.

I don't smoke, but I really don't care at all about the smoking vs. non-smoking. I never feel like the smoke at the Bulldog is excessive.

The food at PH looks like it could use some work. I've only had the burger, which was great, but too pricey.

My bigger gripes with PH are not offering smaller pours and getting the right type and temperature of the glassware. I shouldn't have to ask and they shouldn't be asking.

I don't find anything distasteful or awkward about the interior. It could maybe use a slight re-arrangement.

They do need to make it easier to figure out what rotating stuff they have available.

Offering flights is a must at a tap house

Margins also higher on flight sales because can charge a premium for options
