Went to PH once. Waitress did not know shite about beer. Unacceptable at a tap house.
This. They need a better system to tell/show customers what is new on the rotating or off-menu taps.
I was led to believe that PH's concept was such that they wanted to be THE place for craft beer in BR. Like, if BR got allocated one keg of a certain beer, they would be the ones to get it. Or they would be the first to get special releases. But it's been far from that. It's pretty sad that of 136 taps, they still haven't added Lazy Magnolia Timber Beast. Meanwhile I can go get $4.50 pints of it at Red Zeppelin down the street (and $3 pints of it on Tue/Wed). It seems to me that the only way they are distinguishing themselves is that they have 50 more taps than anyone else in town.
The skank-whore factor among their servers is pretty high. For the most part, they don't know shite about the menu, and look at me like I have a third eye when I ask them about a certain beer.
All things being equal, I'd prefer the Bulldog over PH. But the cig smoke is a deal breaker for me. So now, I only go to Bulldog for lunch, or at another non-peak time so I don't have to deal with that stench. And their bartenders are a lot more friendly/knowledgeable.
So really, the only thing that keeps me coming back to PH is the lack of smoke and the proximity to my office.
And quit trying to serve me beer in a frosted fricking glass!

coming in town in a few weeks, does PH offer high end bourbons? Such as stagg, handy, jefferson presidential?
Posted on 7/7/13 at 9:31 am to TigahRag
mint juleps are on their fricking menu as a feature drink. As such, each bartender should be able to make it consistently close to the same. there are a couple who do a good job but for the most part they suck balls at it. The other day I ordered one and sent it back which I never do. They kid obviously dropped a couple ice cubes in a glass, threw some mint leaves in, a little bourbon, and SPRITE.

No. Cove is the place to go for high end bourbon.

From what I gather from posters in here that know their craft beer, PH needs to stop the "ME TOO!" game and seize control of the category in BR ..

We went for the 225 party a few Wednesdays ago. Bulldog used to be our Wednesday night hangout but we wanted to try something new.
Honestly, the prices seemed the same as the Bulldog and our service was excellent. We went with a few other couples and had waitresses and come by to check on us frequently.
And the live music was great, as well as the non-smoking aspect. We'll definitely be back.

I've been a couple of times, but I'm more partial to Bulldog or the Cove. It seems like they have a better beer selection at those places. I need to try it again.
Quick question: Have they hooked up the TVs to HD? First couple of times I went, they had TVs but not an HD picture. It looked kinda bad

So now PH makes you purchase an entree to order the limited release Parish? WTF?
How much cheaper can you get.
How much cheaper can you get.

Yeah, that is pretty terrible.
Complain you are allergic to something on the plate and see what happens. Say you have one of those fictitious gluten allergies.

Yeah. That's bad. It seems these guys have a real limited knowledge of running food/bar businesses.

Haha!
I was just thinking about this thread after tonight's BS.

I mean, if you are going to do a beer dinner then do a beer dinner. Don't spring a entree for ordering a beer.

It really sounds like a move of desperation, forcing people to buy an entree to try a beer. Especially so if it was not advertised that way.

Agreed. PH will fail.

Unfortunately, you're probably right. They aren't executing a solid bplan to sustain IMO. I know those fellas had to leverage some hefty debt or drop heavy cash to open, and hate to see anybody fail, but I just don't see their current model sustaining.
Time will tell.
Time will tell.

Not a good idea to frick over a bunch of loyal beer drinkers IMO.
