$37.50 for lunch yesterday. I had a burger, the vanilla bourbon barley side, a Ruin Ten, and an Envie. frick that!

And the money grubbing move tonight really pissed me off.

We discussed this with our waitress. We had just got done discussing with her that they don't want to be a restaurant, then she goes on to say we have to get the ceviche with the beer.

These former bartenders seem like the are struggling with the business end. A place that size needs food sales to sustain their business model, wayyy too many empty tables at 7pm on a Thursday night.

Yeah. I don't believe they are grasping the business side well. I imagine they saw their first month sales, and thought "we can do this". But, once the newness completely wears out of that spot(I think it's very near the end of the honeymoon phase), they're going to have to do something different or likely go under.

I probably won't be back. It has a weird vibe(odd atmosphere), not interested in the food, beer is on the expensive side, and I do not like the location.

Was it busy at lunch?

Even the selection is meh.. They may have other places beat on sheer # of taps, but what they do with their taps doesn't measure up to BD, for example

Sounds like pelican house has given up shooting for the weekday lunch crowd. I saw where they won't open until 2:30 Monday-Thursday

Yea, seems like they really dropped that ball on that. In that location, I'd would tried hard to make it a viable lunch destination for people working along or near Corporate.

But they didn't even make a lunch menu. And their dinner menu is already overpriced.

Yikes, that does not bode well. Seems like they're already beginning to enter the telltale stages of failure, beginning with slashed hours.

I think I've been more since they lowered (some) draft beer prices to compete with Pelican House.

It never does seem busy, but I'm also not there late and I think they get a lot of late night service industry people.

Has been packed the last 2 times I went.. which were last week and the week before.

Pelican has been dead both of those times. But I think they do better at happy hour time than they do late night.

Only been once, one thing that would help is if they had a couple of 80" screens that listed all the beers on tap, along with the brewer, style, ABV, etc...

It's dark in there, and everyone has to walk along the bar looking at the tap handles to figure out what beers they have. Either that or find one of the beer lists that may or may not be accurate. The TV's aren't that expensive and would really help expedite the orders.

Just my two cents...

Then again, maybe I'm just old and my eyesite is failing me...

Getting better. They have a new chef with a better menu. Doing a decent job with the beer. But still some things that annoy me. Need a better way to see what's available. The paper menus are tough because they aren't always up to date. They still seem more concerned with the live music than they do with the beer.

Probably the best taproom in Portland (Apex Bar) has 50 taps and is about 1/6 the size of PH. It has an outside area, but it's not used much, 'cuz it's Portland. Of course, Apex Bar has no food, and no TV's. They make a killing...

Yeah, seems they are doing it weekly or bi-weekly now on updating menus. Usually what I am looking for is something that isn't on there or has floated, so its frustrating.

I like how Chimes/Chimes East have gone 100% to beermenus.com, and print them out every update
