Just wondering, when you say lighting you mean it needs to be darker, more like the bulldog?

Ah gotcha. Makes me understand the difference in views of this place.

The pelican house will have a problem performing as a bar in its current state. I don't think though that is what the owners true intention is. At least not a bar in the same manner as the Bulldog.

Maybe youre right and maybe it doesn't need to be dark, but I was sitting at a table with a bright arse light shining directly down on my head.

I can see how that would suck, especially because hats are strictly controlled, everyone knows only thugs wear em.

Then again, for some guys, light is their kryptonite when trying bed the ladies.

It's stuck in some sort of weird limbo....

I've been three times. And all times were to just drink. I sat at the bar twice and then hung out in the bar area once. I guess I need to sit at a table to get a "full" experience. But so far what I've seen, I've liked.
Don't care what the owners originally wanted. This place will be a bar and a bar only. When I used it as that I loved it. I had a great time with friends and enjoyed good beer.

They should honestly. I hate getting pressured by a waitress to order from her when I would rather go to the bar and look at all the taps and make my decision right there.

Plus, even if you got help from the bar, she gets your tip.

If you go to the bar and a great bartender gives you lots of info and samples and serves you a beer.. and then you go sit at a table and order from a waitress for your next beer.. she transfers your tab to herself and she gets your tip at the end of the night even though the knowledgable bartender is the one who gave you samples and helped you pick a product.

I'm not a big fan, but I like the selection. The prices suck though

I'm all for dropping table service. I have enjoyed all my visits there, minus the last time when I made the mistake of going when they were doing the 225 awards.

I have found that sometimes even with all the taps there aren't many beers that interest me.

In not familiar with beer prices elsewhere (new craft beer drinker you know) but 8 bucks for a 12oz Rogue Hazelnut vs 6.49 for a bomber is pricey IMO
SO had a Framberge (sp?) and it was 11 for like an 8oz glass when you can buy a 12oz bottle for 4.99. I mean I expect a mark up and it isn't a place I would go to drink more than 1 or 2 but come on.

Never ate but I wouldn't expect much from a bar, I would just want it fast and greasy

Me too. I haven't been bored with my visits or anything. Everyone has been really sweet. One waitress remembers us from the first night we ever went, and we don't even go very often.

I was at Port that night, and some people came in saying it was crowded at PH.

Same. I've ordered their Fleur D'Orange cocktail just as much as I've ordered beer.

Are you talking about Lindemans Framboise? It's over $10 at any bar. I believe it's $14 for a pint at Bulldog, so $11 is high for 8oz, but doesn't surprise me

Unfortunately I think that is what it will become, rather than a taproom that is slightly less bar like.

Yea, I didn't think nothing about paying 11 at the time then saw the bottle at Rousses and it was 4.99 and had a WTF moment.
I mean I know a they have a mark up and probably higher than most places being new and with their selection just didnt think it was that high. I've seen the food/food prices and not something I would pay for, then again as others have stated it isn't a restaurant by any means either.

As far as table service I can say "meh" from my experience. I've been 3 times total and sat at bar twice, so maybe my sit down was them training. Yet girl brought me wrong beer twice and was just slow and it wasn't a fully packed place yet (it was busy but not overwhelming) so if training I understand.

It's really not. It's all about the same. Some places carry some beers cheaper than others, and others carry some beers more expensive than others.. but it's all relative. I shat my pants when I went to Fox & Hound and payed $15 for a 12oz Chimay Blue.. the book said 23oz for $15, or so I thought. WRONG.

yea some of the prices shocked me, I thought switching from crown/makers would be cheaper but sometimes I am paying more for a beer.

I typically go once a week with a group. We sit on the couches, so the mass of tables isn't an issue. Still have some kinks to get out, but the complaints about the lighting crack me up. It being better lit is a huge plus for me. I fricking hate being in the dark when I'm having drinks. Makes me tired

Like I said earlier .. Basically all craft and domestic beer is expensive at restaurants and bars .. It's just the cost of going out .. You can either spend $15 and 12 at home on your couch or $40 and have 6 at a pub ..
