Toddy chose his values in his last life...as I did. We are currently experiencing the consequences/personal characteristics of those previous choices. It's called free-willed sovereignty...the gift of the Creator. Like Mr. Steel Burden told me..."it's the only fair way". Problematic...but fun; as long as you can get back on track.

I think I was a LITERAL sword swallower in a past life. I'm pretty sure I was there when Czolgosz shot McKinley at the Pan-American Expo in 1901.

Oh, wait, maybe that was something I saw on TV.

LOL..the bible is so dang full of contradictions its not even funny. I dont believe about 95% of whats in that joke of a book that so many people try and say its "Gods word"...blah blah blah... is all I hear when people try to quote it (and always when one little passage fits their argument even if its very loosely related to their argument).

You have ZERO understanding of what The Bible is all about. You reject The Holy Spirit and wonder why you don't comprehend the Living Words??? Sorry, but you have NO credibility in being authoratative enough to comment on The Bible

Wait a minute brain whiz. So you claim you only believe about 5% of what the bible says? What 5%? And how did you decide which 5% is right? And why would you believe any of it if you assume that 95% of it is wrong?

I can boil it down to only one. The only reason anyone will ever be condemned comes done to one thing," unbelief."

The greatest tragedy in Christian history is the Protestant Reformation.

If nothing else, besides diluting Christ's word, it caused an amazing amount of nonsense and had everyone reading what they wanted to into Holy scripture.

The Church is imperfect, by its very nature, but that's sort of irrelevant, isn't it? The point of the church is to ensure truth and Holy Tradition. Protestants have done more to harm Christianity than anyone else in history.

The bible is a joke book. I mean, who would want to live in a society where people didn't believe in lying? Where people believed in helping widows, orphans and the poor? Where people treated others as they wanted to be treated? Where people honored their parents? Where people didn't believe in stealing or committing adultery? Where people didn't try to take his neighbors stuff and put others needs ahead of their own? I know, what a joke!

I wouldn't know. I'm not a Protestant. By the way, no man or church has a monopoly on truth and it is available to every believer.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

It isn't a matter of being Protestant. It is a matter of history. I'm not sure what FT had in mind in his statement, but history would seem to contradict his assertion.

re: What churches simply dont get on Gay Marriage

quote:

Being a homosexual is a choice.

No. Read a book.

Same-sex attraction is probably not a choice, but
participating in homosexuality is a choice.

Same-sex attraction is not a sin, but participating in homosexuality is.

quote:

“The moral compass of society [has been evolving at a rapid rate]. Behaviors … once … considered inappropriate and immoral are now … viewed by … many as acceptable.”

quote:

“God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.” In the New Testament the Savior lifted the moral standard for His followers when He declared, “Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” He taught us not to condemn others, but He was unafraid to speak directly: “Go,” He said, “and sin no more.”

quote:

The world protests, how can you ask so much? The Lord responds: “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. … “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

quote:

Another friend served an outstanding mission, followed by rigorous academic training. He hoped to have a family. His trial of faith: feelings of same-sex attraction. He wrote me recently: “I am promised... that I will have my own family someday. Whether that will occur in this life or the next, I do not know. But what I do know is that I don’t want to do anything that will jeopardize the blessings God has promised both me and my future posterity. … Living [the law of chastity] is a challenge, but did we not come to earth to confront challenges and to show God our love and respect for Him by keeping His commandments? I am blessed with good health, the gospel, a loving family, and loyal friends. I am grateful for my many blessings.”

I recognize this argument, because I used to make the exact same one. I was an Atheist, a real Atheist, not oneof those puss cake aagnostics. But I made statements like that when my philosophy was based more on my hatred for the church than on my non belief of the existence of God.

Eventually I met some Christians, Jews, Taoists, Buddhists, and realized that most people of faith did not fit the stereotypes I had placed on religious people. Then I grew up and decided to find a truth based on what was real and not opinions. I did what few Christians have the courage to do and looked for facts to disprove the existence of God. I wanted the answers, no matter how bad or scary they were.

After years of searching, I came to believe that God exists, not because of what's in the bible or any other religious text, but because of what I could see and because of my experiences. I also came to understand that nobody can convince a person to believe in God, there's no argument that can change an Atheist into believer. It's a truth one must discover on their own.

If you can actively seek answers, and your search leads to the belief that God doesn't exist, then at least you can be content in knowing that you made an informed decision rather than a decision based on convenience or emotion.
