Cajun Boiler, years ago, @ 6 miles south toward Lake Hamilton was legit. Owner/chef grew up in Abbeville.

Doe's closed.

if you are driving i like Luna Bella and KJ's
if you are on the lake by boat the back porch (bring a dingy) or fishermans wharf (not great).

1. McClards-typical tourist BBQ stop (too bad purity bbq burned down bc that was the best in the city)
2. Cajun Boilers
3. Jose's Mexican Food
4. Brick House Grill-located downtown, unique location
5. Belle Arti-fancy italian

not in any order..just a few of the better ones

Hot springs is pretty weak on food options. Burger/bar food place n town is decent for kids - brick house i believe. Cafe 1217 was decent.

I personnally do not like blue monkey, back porch or boathouse altho they are popular local destinations.

I've been to Hot Springs once, and we went to McClard's... pretty solid BBQ even though I'm sure it's mostly a tourist joint.

If I remember right they only take cash.

Update:

Avoid picante at all costs. I can eat almost any Mexican if the chips and salsa are solid and the cerveza is cold. Picante failed at these 2 tasks with stale chips and warm beer. Colorado grill was decent tex mex and would eat there again.
