Cheryshev was pulled from Russia´s match yesterday, after having only played seventeen minutes.

Hamstring problems. Let´s hope it was precautionary, and not a full blown injury.

Is that Mesut's natural radiance lighting up the picture?

Great official debut. This guy could double as player coach.

Still missing a lot of starters, and the team looked REALLY lethargic.

Benzema blows, and Özil picks up from last season, worrying everyone as to what the hell is up with him.

CBs looked slow mentally and physically, as did the FBs.

That was a penalty by Carvajal.

A lot of that was due to the enormous amounts of space left between flat Khedira and Modric and Pepe and Ramos. The team looked much more solid defensively when Casemiro came on to sit and kick the shite out of people while Modric was allowed to roam ahead of him. Not quite sure that Modric and Khedira knew what they were asked to do, and if they were doing what they were asked to do, Modric still didn't know what they were asked to do.

Carvajal spent the first 45 minutes being abused by Cedrick. I don't think that anyone playing for Real Madrid expected him to be that dangerous. Carvajal settled down after the break.

I didn't think that Marcelo played poorly.

All that being said. If Ronaldo looks sharper and Benzema doesn't look like he just came from a house party, the game really isn't close.

This surprised me. The little Nigerian for Betis, can't remember his name, was getting whatever he wanted in the box.

And Isco...

Guy is going to be a superstar.

I knew I forgot something else. Khedira had quite a poor outing, as well.

Is Casemiro making him expendable?

I know he was a huge prospect a few years ago at Sao Paulo, but had a lot of attitude issues and was benched a lot. He seems to have gotten over them and is working hard at RM... Bought for a song too...

I havent watched him but have read good things about his play...

Real Madrid have been dealt an injury blow with the news that Xabi Alonso has broken the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot. The Spain international suffered the break during Wednesday’s morning training session at Valdebebas, the club’s training complex. He faces around three months on the sidelines. Alonso’s Madrid team-mate Marcelo was operated on for the same problem in October 2012. The injury forced the Brazilian to miss 19 matches last season before his return to the team.

In June, Xabi underwent groin surgery in Munich. He was expected to be ruled out for two months, but to speed up his recovery he took a personal trainer on holiday in order to build muscle tone and hit the ground running in the new season.

The 31-year-old was set to make his comeback at the Trofeo Bernabéu on Thursday, but sees his return scuppered by this injury setback.

On another note, Benzema renews his contract through 2015. Aargh.
