Kroos is not aggressive enough, but he has worked really hard on his defense. I don't think he'll be a Bayern lifer like a lot of the academy guys, he's an Eastern German. We'll see though, he only has 2 years left on his contract and I'm sure Bayern will try to extend him.

I read somewhere that Ancelotti wants a more modern AM than Ozil

Mehbe (I felt the same way about Jonathan Wilson's assertion that Real Madrid would never win la decima w/Ronaldo)

Though, if Ancelotti is going to put the handcuffs on Oezil restricting his movement and pushing him into tight areas, it's probably for the best.

Package from Adidas to Gareth Bale, sent to Real Madrid´s Valdebebas training facility. It contains his boots for the presentation (the strip has been onhand since this past weekend).

Agreed, especially since you all apparently don't want to sell anyone until bale is under contract..

word on the screet is Real Madrid are not going to part ways with Di Maria until Bale is official. Tottenham is putting off the bale deal so Arsenal will not have time to sign Di Maria.

RUMORS.

Real Madrid announces signing of Gareth Bale.

€84M fixed or base
€7M variable

Real Madrid and Bale´s people are putting the finishing touches on the marketing rights agreement.

Pretty crafty, keeping the price lower than Cristianito´s. The Portuguese is now called upon to be a leader, and his petulant arse would be insufferable, were Bale to have cost more than him.

Bale has a hard on for Ronaldo. So, I don't think it would have been a problem

I know. I was just saying that regardless of the fee's effect on Ronaldo's ego, he's going to receive a pretty significant ego boost from Bale fawning over him

Plus, if he wanted to be really petty about it, he could just put in a transfer request

Gareth Bale is the 13th British footballer to play for Real Madrid, and the first Welshman (Toshack was a coach, not a player).

The first seven played before 1950. Cunningham did nothing of merit, and McManaman, Beckham and Owen were of oscillating value or use. Woodgate was a fiasco.

Real Madrid have told Kaká he can leave for free. And he is willing to take a €5M pay cut for clubs willing to offer. [Sky]

Carlo Ancelotti faced the journalists’ questions after he saw his Real Madrid side, with Modric and Isco imperious, beat Athletic 3-1.

Isco, Modric and Cristiano were applauded

I think Modric had a fantastic game, as did Isco. Cristiano scored. It wasn’t a problem that he hadn’t, but for a striker getting a goal is always a good thing. I think Isco is doing really well, it seems like he’s been here for ages. He’s shown character, ability and quality. Isco can play in the middle or out wide. His defensive work should be on the wing but going forward he can go where he wants to. He knows how to find the best spot on the park.

Benzema

The fans whistled him a bit. The whole ground applauded Di María. The fans appreciate hard work. In Benzema’s position you don’t work so hard. Hard work is applauded.

Özil

It’s normal that he’s not happy. I wouldn’t want him to be happy about being on the bench. It was a technical decision to leave him out. Di María has rhythm and intensity and I preferred him for this game. It was a tactical choice, there’s nothing more to it.

Would Isco or Modric replace Ozil in the middle? I remember Modric playing deeper in the PL.

Modric has played deeper under Ancelotti (though Mourinho did play him farther up the field once or twice).

There probably won't be a direct replacement for Oezil. He didn't really fit into Ancelotti's formation, and that's the problem. Suppose that Isco is functionally similar to him under Ancelotti, though.
