It never ceases to amaze me how ChickFilA values customer service. Every time I go to one, no matter where, its always "Yes Sir, Thank You Sir, My Pleasure." Only FF restaurant where the manager walks around and asks you if you need anything. Very rarely can you walk through the door without multiple people telling you "Hello" or "Welcome". There can be 30 people in line, and you'll still never have to wait more than 5 mins to get your food.

All this for a chicken shack whose meals are no more expensive (sometimes a lot less expensive) than McDonalds. Furthermore, they are typically staffed with twice the number of people McDonalds are. Why is it that ChickFilA can attract a higher quality worker than McDonalds? Franchise vs Corporately owned?

have you paid attention to who typically works there? Same service as Cane's as well.

McDonalds = too big to fail and they know it. Like Walmart.

Consequently they don't give a shite about customer service, and their hiring practices reflect that.

Part of the Operator's responsibility in managing the store is preparing young people for life/ career / college. Store Operator's are actually supposed to be mentors as well as bosses.

Doesn't always happen, but that is part of the overall plan.

Publicly traded vs privately owned makes all the difference. Publicly traded companies care only about the bottom line.

I am a firm believer that if you hold people to a hire standard most will step up and meet that standard. The ones that don't end up where they deserve.

I mentioned at Balcony Bar that they have a salad there that's pretty good and the new chef looks at me and says, "frick Chick-Fil-A" then continues her conversation.

They make good food, and haven't really done anything to gay people. So stupid.

I wonder how long it will be before they are sued out of business for racial discrimination in their hiring practices.

I agree with this. Chick-a-fil, as my dad still calls it, keeps business simple and hires good kids.

In-N-Out has a very similar business model and hiring strategy. It's always a pleasure kids working a job where they're happy.

A big reason CFA's are run so well is the franchisee only owns a single store for the most part. In most cases the franchisee sets foot in the restaurant at least once a day.
