Flanagan isn't a goal scorer or even a good crosser, but he had lots of nice moves and passes that opened up quite a few chances during the year along the flanks. Several goals were created based upon his forward movement and pass into space.

Hopefully, he'll improve a bit on his offensive game, but frankly, I would have no problem if he started half of our games next year and served as primary back-up on the left and right, obviously playing quite a bit. We definitely need more quality and depth in our outside backs in total though.

Again, maybe I'm wrong, but I just see him as serviceable and not great at any one thing... and very limited in the attacking third.. the things he does, he SHOULD do and do better... Cissokho should not be the barometer.. but, I'll stop here with Flanno because I like him and don't want to make it out like I'm bashing him.. i think he does have a part to play here, albeit a bit part..

That said, I am cautiously optimistic after reading that BRs new long term deal was contingent on FSG giving him assurances that they will go after some "top quality" signings this summer... FSG have been willing to back the manager of the BoSox in the offseason, so I have no reason to doubt that they will do the same here (even given that we aren't dealing with apples to apples in the two sports)

All that said, "top quality" is subjective and it goes back to things discussed earlier in this read..

Gotta hand it to Ayre. He seems to be killing it with the sponsorships

That news source is literally one of the worst at reporting accurate information.

That seems a bit steep, doesn't it?

Maybe its just that I've been waiting for two years to see Suso's development and don't want to miss out on it now.

I could see maybe 8-10m plus suso? And I guess this means they see Lallana as making Suso redundant? Though wouldn't it be nice to have a young guy coming up the ranks?

Yeah, and I don't necessarily believe it... It's just been slow on this thread, though I'd think Moreno would be a great signing..

I don't have an issue letting Suso go... I kinda once saw him as a very special prospect, but now just a good player... His contract is up next season and I have a feeling he will want guarantees to extend.... So there is. A chance we could lose him for free..

I'm not opposed to him staying and fighting for a spot, just wouldn't be heartbroken if he left...

I really want to see Moreno sign for Liverpool. Seems to be picking up steam.

Now some of the more reliable journos are saying it's Suson on loan. I think Mpreno could be a special player so I'd love to have him, but I'd preferably not want to lose Suso because I think he still has a future with this team

I can get behind that idea if it helps us land Moreno... TBH, I'd have offered Alberto back permanently (maybe we did)...

If we kept Suso, I was hoping he would be lent out to an EPL team, assuming we brought in Lallana (SOTON would have been a good choice) and another MFer...

Who do you guys thing go out on loan? Mainly the ones on the cusp of 1st team action..

Ilori? Again, would prefer EPL
Wisdom? If GJ is still here, I'd like him to stay and be cover
Ibe? Especially if we bring in another WF/winger

I'm sure there will be other reserve guys that go on loan on the lower divisions

I'm wondering if Fabianski signing with Swansea City means the rumors about us bringing in Vorm to compete with Mignolet are true??

Starting to add up and at the £5mm price Ive been reading, I'd say its a very good signing... basically what we'd hope to get for Pepe.. so in the end it could be a wash £ wise..

Hopefully we can get close to 15m for Pepe, Assaidi, and Aspas combined, but I imagine it would be closer to 10.

So with that money, we could potentially have around 70m to spend if the rumored 60m transfer kitty is true.

My biggest concern is that we spend too much on Lallana which would handcuff us in trying to get more first team caliber players.

Same on Lallana... I guess the one good thing is that you can typically find better value in the back 4... the sale of Agger could also, probably, come close to funding a replacement...

I am under the assumption Agger is for sale... If not, I still think we need to bring in competition for Skrtel (Toure probably out)... and then that would be our 2 deep CBs...

If Agger goes, I think we need 2 CBs...

I am totally confident that Sakho can nail down the LCB position and with a year under his belt, be even better... but he would need a back up. Maybe Rojo?? He can play CB and LB, so that would be nice...

Skrtel, I think can be pushed for the top RCB spot and I'd like for us to shoot high enough on someone to usurp him... Skrtel could then be a back up for a year, before he's sold and Ilori is ready to come in and compete...

Anyway, just trying to drive some activity on this thread... Its been a slow offseason and will prob die during WC...

edit: Another good backup to Sakho at LCB would be Ashley Williams, if the rumors of him being available for £3mm are true (last year on contract). He could bring valuable leadership to the team and still has a few good years left. The question is would he be content as 2nd choice LCB??
