Besides your mid field being run off the pitch against Arsenal.

When I say "our" worst game, I mean one in which Liverpool played their poorest. Although Stoke deserve credit, a lot of it was a result of laziness and lack of concentration. Arsenal, on the other hand, earned every bit of that win. So that's why Stoke was our worst performance. Our midfield is better than Stoke's. It's not better than Arsenal's.

A win on the road and keeping pace with Chelsea and Man City in the table is crucial. Arsenal has the same task tomorrow.

Who's spot would he take? Allen's?
I don't know if he'd necessarily take his spot. I like Suso because he's so versatile, but we can't just ship off people when we get others back. We really need the depth, especially if we get European football next year. We could even use Assaidi and he wouldn't be bad to keep around for some games unless someone puts in an offer we can't refuse.

For you, definitely. I'm more concerned with keeping pace with Everton, Spurs, and United. I think there are two clear groups competing for the top 4 spots. The first group: City, Chelsea, and Arsenal for the title. The three I mentioned before that for the 4th spot.

my sentiments exactly… that being said, with a healthy Sturridge now in the fold, with the schedule in our favor here out, 4th should be ours to lose….

Stevie said post-match, that BR has told him that he will be playing in that holding role more often...

I'm ok with this when we have possession. He distributes well from back there, and can make some great tackles in transition, even if his speed is not what it once was.

However, I'm not as big of a fan of his being in that role when we're under pressure. Maybe he'll get better with a bit of time - heck his improvement in his role last year was great.

ETA - Skyrtel has completely reverted. He came out playing well this year, but he's had a lot of poor moments the last few weeks. And frankly, he is due for a Penalty on a corner kick - you know it has to be discussed and watched by the refs.

Pool has a very favorable schedule going forward. A lot of soccer to be played.

Agreed. For the first time in a long time we'll have no one to blame but ourselves if we don't finish in a European spot.

Serious question. Who was to blame the other times?

United. It's always United's fault

don't want to speak for him, but I took it to mean that we weren't one of the four teams talentwise, and did not deserve a top four finish.

This year, it can be argued with our striker partnership and offense, that we're worthy of being a top four team.

This makes me smile... If only we'd have gotten him in the Torres deal and spent the other ~£40mm elsewhere...

Fwiw we did spend some of that money on Suarez. The Carroll deal was not a good one definitely but ~£20M seems like a steal for Luis now

We bought Suarez before we sold Torres/bought Carroll... We were buying him all along, to partner Torres...

I have no idea where the extra £15mm went... whether it went in the transfer kitty to horrifically over spend on British players in summer 2011 or to go back and put it towards Suarez...

But given the signings we had that summer, it may not have made a difference other than having Studge and Suarez play together 2 years earlier...

edit: yeah, Suarez was great value at that price... Hell even the 35 spent on Carroll doesnt seem AS bad when you look at some of the silly money spent on players since then...
